i have a yahoo journaling list, and this is part of a post from today
"Women try to act like sexual predators, try to out drink/smoke/bed men and then wonder why the number of sexual assaults is on the increase."

about alcohol: "they (women) are lowering their own inhibitions, having their judgement clouded and actually making it easier for the sexually predatory male to prey on them. This combined with their ultra-revealing clothes (or lack thereof) is actually inviting trouble."

"We can hardly blame men for seeing women as sex objects when women objectify themselves by choosing to dress as trash. For some unknown reason, one of the recent crazes seemed to glorify the ‘pimp’ thing. Now how messed up is that? Women and men looking up to a person who lies, cheats, steals from and brutalizes women??"

i told this woman that she is brutalizing women with her words, that the men in my life don't even have sexist thoughts like these. i am appalled.

on top of that, she has been harrassing another female member on that member's blog, telling her she is a slutty tramp with aids, and calling her names that i can not believe, because she is a model of lingerie.

all of it sounds like it comes from the most despicable man you'd even want to run into, but it is from a woman. how many steps backwards is that?!?!

1. Women like her
Are engaging in "It will never happen to me because I don't _____(fill in the blank)" wishful thinking. There was a thread a while back on this group where someone posted an article about how some women and people from other oppressed groups engage in behavior similar to the Stockholm Syndrome seen in hostages who sympathize with thier captors. Instead of being related to a particular incident, it's an ongoing strategy where people identify with the over-group at the expense of their own group in order to win favor and improve their chances at survival. That's what the woman who made those comments on the journal is doing IMO. It's also possible that she WAS victimized at one point in her life and projects her issues onto other women as a way of assuaging her shame.

You know, I share your shock and disappointment at seeing these sentiments expressed by a woman. Unfortunately, some of the worst sexists are members of our own gender.

a few other women told her how sexist she is, but a few others agreed with her, but less harshly. i am amazed at what is in these women's minds.

she continues to rant about promiscuity, so i imagine it is pushing her buttons, probably, like you say, due to a past event in her life.

3. Lovely logic.
So women who don't drink, don't wear revealing clothes, are sexually inactive or faithfully married, stay at home as housewives and/or mothers don't get raped, abused, or murdered. Well I'm sure the ones who fit into those categories will be very happy to know that they're safe now, and if turns out they aren't, blame it on the ones wearing mini skirts. Horrible, horrible way to think. Beyond mere ignorance, those are malicious, vile statements, I would like to believe there is some sort of mental illness to blame it on (not to insult those so afflicted) but unfortunately, she probably believes that shit.

5. i have found out more about this woman
her dad killed himself when she was 12. she 'never shed a tear.' she is taking her anger out on everyone around her, but i'm not so sure why it is so sexual. i wonder if he abused her.

4. Sounds like one of my older relatives!
She had an extremely sex-negative attitude. Any woman who had non-marital sex was a "whore," and even marital sex was just a grim duty.

7. Yikes.
I hate it when I run into women promoting anti-female sexism. I know why they do it, but...it's so hard to accept that they can't see how confused that attitude is. Talk about being "too close to something."
