My partner and I want to go, but we've never been to a women's festival before. We're curious as to what we'd be getting into.

:hi:

1. I've lived in GA for 10 years, and I've never heard of it!
Details, please!

2. It's a 4 day festival in N. Georgia open to all women...
April 20-24 '06

VERY popular with lesbians. I think most women who attend are lesbian/bi but it is open to all women.

Children and pets are welcome with some caveats (nudity is allowed so only male children under 8 years old can attend)

Crafts, workshops, music, camping, RVs welcome. I sounds like great fun.

4. Yes - I went but it was almost 20 years ago. Didn't know they
were still having it.

As for what you are getting into - be prepared for a lot of nudity (doubt if you care about that), in your face S & M (could help sort out your personal views on the subject), no showers (who cares for just 4 days) and frankly, a whole lot of angry transgendered and lesbian women. Unless, of course, things have changed.

If you are a music lover it will all be worth it. By the way, who is going to be there?

6. Yes - only they were generally referred to as just "butch".

Perhaps we should have a discussion of the meaning of transgendered. I live in a city with a great many t-women and frankly everyone of them seems to have a slightly different definition. What is yours?

They also allowed transexuals (men to women) if they had completed all surgical procedures. Don't know who checked them out but I am certain that they were screened. They are real serious about keeping men "off the land".

7. One who lives as another gender...
...whether occasionally or primarily.

I think gender identity should be something we explore on this board, though perhaps not on this thread. Want to start a new thread on the topic?

8. Sure - but I am no expert. I ask a lot of questions because I
find all the variations on this theme quite interesting. I was recently at a dinner party with women ranging in age from 22 - 70 and the entire evening was spent in conversation about gender identity. Perhaps I should say turned into an argument about gender identity.

I guess my bottom line is that you are what you think you are.

9. according to their website, they now have "some" hot showers
and flushing toilets. And they mentioned something about keeping sensual behavior to yourself...I guess keep the sex in your tent. I don't think they have anybody (music) booked for '06 yet. It sounds like so much fun!

My partner and I are looking forward to the nudity. I told her that I'm going topless the whole time! :bounce:
