I'm not sure which. I'm so glad women don't attack other women for not looking perfect every minute of every f(*&^%^$ hour of the day!

And this, http://tinyurl.com/8rmxb

I think a couple of posters missed the point.

1. Jesus Christ on a trailer hitch!
How could anyone send an email like that to a 10-y.o. girl? As if they don't have enough self-esteem issues to deal with already.

And the pregnancy picture? Criticizing a woman for her appearance when she's doing one of the few things women are usually told they should? Personally, I think she looks pretty damn good.

:nuke:

2. Thanks for making me laugh "Jesus Christ on a trailer hitch"
I saw that picture here.

Kinda makes the other stuff a little easier to take. Er, no nevermind, the other stuff still sucks eggs.

4. Maybe I never noticed these threads before
as they didn't particularly interest me. But, seeing them posted here really brings out HOW evil we are to how women look in our society. It maeks me so sad that people are so quick to judge others based upon their looks, not on their intellectual, emotional, or charitable merit. It's truly disheartening. :(

Reading this feminist group (for the most part just lurking here) really is opening up my eyes to prejudices that exist out there, and it truly is making me want to change things in my life. I'm more aware of how I treat other people, particularly women. :)

6. Well, if you're hypercritical, then I am, too. Tho perhaps you can
tell, I don't think there is anything "hyper" about it.

Another way to "reframe the debate" ;) is to say that we are highly attuned to the subtle nature of discrimination in its many forms.

Amazing how that changes the sound and feel of things.

Nice to meetcha, by the way.

:hi:

You see, I'm sure many of the female posters in that thread had no qualms whatsoever about criticising someone who isn't 100% what they think she should be; nor do I believe, it even crossed their minds that they were being hyper critical. That is to me, one of the saddest comments on how women treat women.

8. no, i realize that i am hyper sensitive to these comments
so much so that i refrain from replying more often than not. i have a sweet neighbor who laments about her shape. she wishes she looked like Pamela Anderson, because that's who her "man" says is the perfect woman...the woman is saving for implants. she was crying while she told me this stuff. well i shared my opinions with her and suggested therapy but i was talking to the wall..
nice to meetcha as well.........I carry my soap box everywhere

9. me too--(carry my soapbox)
Sounds like you were spot on advising her to seek therapy. Her issue is "jealousy" and even if she had the exact same body Anderson does, her "man" would still be attracted to Anderson.
