Well ladies, Governor Palin has reached the pinnacle of success.
Mr. Hefner would like her to pose naked in playboy. No glasses though. What more could a successful female politician running for vice president ask for?

She must be so proud.

(I apologize for the link, it's margarine for the soul, and so, saturated with that patriarchy infused hydrogen that's very bad for you)

2. Yeah I saw one
Participated a bit. Palin needs to read IBTP to get a wake up call on who's zooming who. I'd send her a link if I thought a)she'd appreciate it b)it did even the smallest amount of good

3. If you have the time (and inclination)...
...pm me a link to the thread. I actually get a kick out of reading threads like that when feminists actually participate.

As for Palin, she probably has the same opinion of radical feminists as most of her right wing sisters--ugly, uppity women that couldn't find men or worse, are lesbians. :eyes: The more I read about her, the more I wonder if she may be mentally ill.

4. She's an asshole
A typical, white privileged, upper middle class asshole. No reason to consider the implications of what she's doing, because she only truly speaks for a protected segment of the population that also never has to consider why it is they can move through life with relative ease. Thus, the drama when life's challenges arise. "Look at ME, look what I'm enduring" Some make it through horrible experienced and actually grow a soul, they're humbled and connected. Some never get past the inherent entitlement and learn nothing

Her beauty is contrived, artifice, complacent and compliant and challenges nothing. I like beauty to be stunning or quiet, but beginning from the inside. Otherwise it means nothing to me.

I was watching a segment on Yoga on the news, and they interviewed this healthy young women involved with yoga and I thought how beautiful she was, with that glow that transcends simple features and body shape. She'd be considered fuckable too, by lesser standards.

These people have holes in their souls they try to fill with a terrible Father-God. (If I was so inclined) I pray to the rest of the non-existent Gods, that, that one in particular doesn't exist and never existed except in some twisted mind trying to make sense of the universe. I mean really, waiting for our beautiful earth to burn, and millions of people to suffer and die? Looking forward to it? Now that is mentally ill.

I was watching an interview with Ann and Nancy Wilson of the band Heart. They were talking about being female rockers in the 70's, when the second wave was hitting. Ann was saying "People thought being a feminist meant you hated men, or wanted to BE a man, which was a total misunderstanding" Nancy, "Yeah, a TOTAL misunderstanding"

To say the least, Huh? And it's actually gotten worse, because somehow women were frightened away by the propaganda, and stopped seeing the promise. Too long did we learn to value our fuckablility over any other virtues or attributes. Too long was fuckability a necessary survival skill. And Still the economy is anti-woman and anti child and forces women into decisions they may not have otherwise made, and still, consider them choices.

Yet track and roads were made, Palin, if nothing else, obviously has never read or never cared about the opinions of certain "great minds" about a woman's ability to lead. But she has feminists to thank to getting to where she is today, and the patriarchy for tearing her down, reducing her to body parts and sexuality and turning her into the sad, sick joke she's becoming. Will the experience deepen her? Will she grow a soul? Doubt it. She'll going on feeding body parts and sound bites to patriarchy and defend it every step of the way.

Kick ass post!

If I had any inclination toward believing this "Palin is a feminist" stuff, reading of Elizabeth Hasselback's support of her would bring me back to my senses. Hasselback who is only a celebrity because she's blonde, pretty in that male identified way, and a former contestant of a reality show. She doesn't hesitate to share her support for all things "right wing" in a childish, naive, uber obnoxious way at any given chance. She also married a rich man. Need I say more?

To thank you for the most excellent reference to the Heart sisters:

All the music is top-notch, but my personal fave is number 3 (The Immigrant Song). She rocks that so hard it brings tears of joy to my eyes. Take that Robert Plant!
