She's in Texas right now.
She does work roughly equivilent to many of my major duties. If she doesn't do it quite as well as I do it it's because she didn't have the same background, was offered no training and has nobody to fall back upon but a boss who knows less than she does. She taught herself how to work this corporate bureacracy by trial and error. I often can't help her because her work requires access to different systems and we're segregated in different divisions.
Somehow, her position is some unknown number of levels under mine. I'm a senior consultant and she's a senior Administrative Assistant. They should have put us in one office together. I could have trained her up, learned enough of her stuff to back her up, and we could have been one hell of a team.
I've been helping her for a few months. Her references are in order, I introduced her to professional contacts down in Austin and Dallas. And I helped her write up her resume and a few sample cover letters. We have gone over the interview coaching. She's in TX right now making final arrangements to move.
She's escaping this place and already has headhunters looking to place her in higher level positions. I'll take her out to a belated equality day when she comes back for her last few week here. :)
:toast: To Celia's good fortune, and to finding her worth!
