Birth control is NOT abortion.
I hope this hasn't already been posted but I thought everyone here would want to see it...

"Birth control is NOT abortion.

Can you imagine living in a place where birth control is considered an "abortion" and health insurers won't cover it? Where even rape victims are denied emergency contraception?

It seems unbelievable, but the Bush Administration is quietly trying to redefine "abortion" to include birth control. The Houston Chronicle says this could wipe out dozens of state laws that protect women's reproductive freedom and protect rape victims. This "rule change" doesn't need congressional approval.

Can you sign an emergency message to Health and Human Services Secretary Mike Leavitt, whose department is considering this rule change right now? We'll pass your signature and information to the Planned Parenthood Action Fund, which will deliver the signatures to Leavitt. They'll be able to follow up with you on this issue."

1. If they're so worried about the birtch control pill
why not develop an effective male pill? That would be sensible, now wouldn't it...?

Oh wait, this is the patriarchy. We don't do sensible.

4. contraception is abortion

the same way my hypertension medication is abortion.

http://www.healthyontario.com/DrugDetails.aspx?brand_id=4913&brand_name=Sandoz%20Ramipril
Pregnancy: ACE inhibitors such as ramipril may cause serious problems during pregnancy. This medication should not be used during pregnancy. If you become pregnant while taking this medication, stop taking it immediately and contact your doctor.

Actually, since the effect of hormonal contraception that involves preventing implantation of a fertilized egg is only theorized, the pill is not nearly as objectionable as my hypertension medication.

In either case, any interference with pregnancy (or implantation) is a SIDE EFFECT of a medication taken for another purpose.

I gather that anti-choice pharmacists are now demanding that every women who looks to be capable of becoming pregnant take a pregnancy test before they will dispense ramipril.

And then insisting that they go on the pill to prevent a pregnancy occurring.

Hahahahaha.
