I'm losing again
Don't know for how long. :P

But here's what I'm doing:

Not really working out right now (can't afford a gym)... more like light/heavy housework right now. Installing some new furniture and a new stove. So lots of moving things around and heavy cleaning.

On the dietary front - Making sure to get the five servings of veggies and fruit a day. That usually boils down to a glass of low sodium V8 and a piece of fresh fruit at breakfast. Another two or three veggies at lunch with a low fat protein like fish or chicken breast. A snack around 4-5pm of another fruit and nuts. (trail mix of nuts and dried fruit is a good option) Dinner is another salad or some other veggies, might skip protein if I had it at lunch.

: Really finally letting go of the stuff I seem to have problems with: grain and milk products. I used to think I could just have "some" every day, if it kept it to a serving. No. It just makes me eat. No colas or fizzy waters. I seem to get acne from them. Don't know why.

I try not to go more than four hours without eating something so that I don't get too hungry at the next meal. Caffeine free coffee. But I do drink iced tea in various forms, unsweetened.

1. Congrats! Sounds like you have a good thing going
Keep up the good work :) Just make sure you're getting ENOUGH calories so your body doesn't start hoarding them!

3. Oh sure
Near as I can tell, I'm eating about 1200-1400 calories a day. That's plenty for a petite adult like me. :)

Forgot to say that yes, I do eat protein at breakfast, usually eggs. :-)

2. I'm in my third week of being off the animal products
I'm having an easier time with letting go of the cheese than I thought I would though yesterday I did have a bit of a longing for a poached egg.

I've upped my whole grain....mostly sticking to quinoa and brown rice. Of course I'm doing lots of fresh veggies and upped my fruit as well.

I'm a little more tired but am finding that I feel less tension in my shoulders and upper back. Who the heck knows. I'm less bloatey feeling and my clothes are a little looser.

4. Congrats on your new regime
:D

Cheese has been way harder for me to give up than bread or pasta or even milk and ice cream. If you do low carb eating, cheese is such a convenient snack.

5. Down about seven pounds so far
Edited on Thu Aug-26-10 11:30 AM by supernova
from where I started. I've been losing a little over a pound a week. So far so good.

And I'm eating enough to stay energetic.

I noticed I'm sleeping better too, not trying to come home and go to sleep on a full stomach.

*Crossing my fingers* that this continues. If it does, by the end of the year, I should be a little more than about 1/2 way to my goal weight.

Hope everyone else is doing well. :-)

edit: In another 15 pounds I will be down to where I was before I met my fiance last year.

It's taken a lot of trial and error, but I just might have found a way to have a decent relationship and have a good relationship with food too. But, I'm only going to say MIGHT right now, because I have been wrong before.

7. Congrats
Today I started to take weight loss seriously and checked the Lobby, found this forum, and your post is just great!

I'm trying. Due to osteoporosis and rheumatoid arthritis I needed to take certain meds for over a year that caused me to gain weight. Along with laying around all day since all the bone fracture were in my pelvis I could barely walk. Topped out at 165, the most I've ever weighed in my life. I felt so damn crappy. Couldn't move, bend - nothing. Ahh, but one side benefit was that I looked younger. The puffed out, bloated face smoothed out all the wrinkles. :P

Since not taking steroids I lost the water weight and am now 145 (and wrinkled) but, I'd like to loose another 10 lbs to fit into my damn clothes.

Your menu plan sounds very doable. I could live on fish and chicken. It's the fruits and veggies that are hard. What! No butter, sauces or cheese on the veggies? No sweet oooey gooey fruit deserts :( Oh, and bread. I love Italian bread or Wonder White Bread :sigh:

Picked up this months issue of "Health" magazine. I've never heard of Resistant Starch, seems if you eat them first thing in the a.m. it's suppose to signal the body to burn fat. HEY, body!! Get burning.

I could do this fat burning breakfast. Blueberry Oat Pancakes with Maple Yogurt.

Thanks for not giving up. It won't be easy but, I'm going to work at it and if I mess up I'm free to get back on track.

9. Good for you! Have you ever tried rice milk? I'm allergic to dairy
and soy so I drink Rice milk and it's pretty good. You have to get used to it, it's like really skim milk.
