Any experiences with Michael Thurmond's plan?
http://www.mybodymakeover.com

He's on the Extreme Makeover show, written "12 Day Body Shaping Miracle" and has a 6-week program online at the above site. I've read good reviews and I've read not-so-good reviews - wanted to see if anyone here had any experience with it.

Thanks! :hi:

1. I got it a few years back when it first came out. It's pretty good, but certainly not
anything new and definitely not some quick working miracle. Here's a summary of what I can remember:

1)Eat frequent, small meals to "stoke" the fat-burning fire.
2)He gets into good/bad fats and the idea of good/bad carbs based on body type.
3)Sort of "South Beachie" on food choices especially for apple-shaped body types (classic pre-diabetes shape)
4)Resistance training every other day and daily working out (walking/biking) in the "fat-burning" zone (70% of max heart rate) for 45 - 60 minutes.
5)Up the water intake and decrease the salt.
6)Custom body sculpting workout based on your body-type and goals - this was the most valuable for me as a beginner since I don't have ready access to a personal trainer - it was the next best thing.

I still use quite a few of his recipes. And the workouts using the resistance band worked well for me - unfortunately I no longer have a functioning VCR but I have the book that diagrams the moves.

I did get some pretty good results back then but like all programs it takes commitment...that's where I tend to fail, making/taking the time for a workout schedule. I'm one of those compulsive, live in the moment types and more often than not that doesn't leave me the time to squeeze in a workout routine.

I need to get more discipline and structure in my life. I'm feeling pretty good that I've at least gotten around to eating healthy and walking 4 miles most days - not seeing quick results but the scale and tape measure are slowly moving in the proper direction.

Hope this helps. :hi:

And eating right - that's fantastic!

This does help - a lot. Thank you for the post!! And, keep up the good work! :D

Hubby still doing well on the C-PAP? I love mine. And because of the mask I use, it took no time to adjust, I've loved it from the beginning.

3. Hi AZBlue, Yeah I do feel good about the walking, but it's not enough of a
challenge for my body anymore. I've changed my route to add more hill climbing, I tried to add a bit of a jog but my ankle just won't take it. I really want to get into a muscle building routine to add to my walk, but like I said, I'm lacking in discipline. I do still sneak in a bike ride now and then too. Maybe when I'm done with my latest home renovations and landscaping projects....

Hubby is doing fairly well. His hip has been bothering him so he's not been walking with me and he's falling into his old poor habits of falling asleep in front of the TV and crawling into bed in the middle of the night without his C-PAP. I did put an end to that this week - couldn't stand the snoring and noticed his energy levels were way down. He now has a bedtime, C-PAP required no if, ands or buts about it. His weight has been holding steady through it all, I just don't want him to loose all the health improvements he's attained since last fall. Summers are hard on him as he works in a hot shop all day and just never was very good with the heat. He comes home to the AC and pretty much parks it for the night.

Good to hear you're still lovin' your C-PAP.
