Attended a sober wedding Saturday !!!!
the couple has had really serious trouble for many years till they got into recovery, now have a quiet and happy life together. The folks attending were mainly recovering former thugs, now sober, with families of their own, all dressed for church. It was a very impressive experience and I was very happy to be part of it.

I love these things, and still feel very good from being there.

1. That is so cool, Mark!

It's experiences like this wedding that bring tears to
my eyes.

Sometimes when I'm at a meeting, I will look around at
my fellow recovering alcoholics/addicts and realize that
each and everyone of us are miracles. That's when I get
a lump in my throat and at times, tears in my eyes.

Recovery is a beautiful thing.

Congratulations to the new couple.
I'm glad you were a part of their celebration of love.

:)

2. There are a lot of "A" group (AA, NA, etc) activities - parties, picnics, etc,
all year round that are just excellent for giving great happiness the feelings you describe. I spoke at a picnic about 20 years ago and wondered what the gathering would be like if all of us had been using our drugs of choice- chaos, violence, saddness.
The miracle is all of us, every minute of every day.
I recommend these parties, etc, to anyone in recovery any time - they are all wonderful experiences and can be very helpful in our journey to be happy, joyous and free.

3. That's good advice, Mark.

And it's a great way to meet new people
in recovery.
