Just celebrated my two year birthday--how to work through political resentments?
I'm amazed at the difference in my life and attitude. I didn't post in this group but I read here. This was one of the places I went to get me to AA and get sober--so thank you.

I'm still working on the resentments I have for Bush etc and the pain they have caused. My sponsor and I have discussed this but agreed to put it aside for awhile. I'm curious if others have dealt with the hate, fear, and resentment around some politicians?

2. Happy Birthday, Cally!
Congratulations on two years clean and sober!

 :)

NM Dem posted a link to our discussion of that topic.

Right now, everyone in my household is directly affected
by the budget crisis in my state,CA.
Our clueless Governator has been on the wrong path since
he took office and it's getting much, much worse.

I can't let the Rabid Repugs hurt my sobriety.
Ann Coulters and Rushies will always be around, unfortunately.

It's up to me to maintain my sobriety by putting it in proper
perspective.
Sobriety comes first.

I hope this helped.

Happy Birthday, again.

3. "Our clueless Governator ..."
Not clueless. Intentional, like Bush (and Enron, who helped create the opportunity for Arnold to get into office).

Definitely a good time for the 10th Step :/

5. I was very active in the redical side of left politics many years ago.
I dropped all contact with it, to the point of not even reading newspapers for years because I got so angry at things. I gave myself a long vacation from it all till I had some time and changes under by belt.

I just really started to get active again for the Obama campaign, and have done some things with some healthcare and moveon type groups as well as a veterans group. I use my anger for motivation to email and otherwise contact the actual pols thenselves, including the white house.

Concentrate on your recovery - find some joy in life to go with the frustrations and anger. I had 21 years this past May - I can assure you there will still be terrible politicians when and if you decide to return to your interest in politics, but give your SELF time and opportunity to grow in other areas. There are many other things in this world that are very enjoyable and you should let yourself experience the good things.

Sorry to be so long winded.

enjoy yourself.
