4. Has it been 6 months already?
Did somebody go and change the definition of disease again?

Anyway, I've decided I'm just gonna read it laugh. I get a little disheartened when I witness non-addicts arguing about whether or not my addiction is a disease. Truth is, it doesn't matter to me. Call it a didease. Don't call it a disease. Doesn't change a thing.

5. Time flies...
Just a label. How the label affects what I do for my recovery? Not in the least.

6. I just LOVE the posts that claim
Someone is making big bucks from AA!

For a cult, we're awfully darned cheap. Where else can you get therapy, entertainment and coffee for a buck?

WTH? Are we some kind of threat to
these people?

11. Sounds to me
Like someone got court-ordered into a Twelve Step program, and isn't happy there. Well, guess what - I'm not freakin' happy to have them there, either. I don't need people like that text-messaging their buddies while some poor soul is pouring her guts out. When I chair, I just sign the court forms at the beginning of the meeting. Then the person can stay or not. That's a pretty lackadaisical way of running a "cult" IMHO.

12. I'm with you, Judy.

Some of them want to participate, some don't and show their disdain
at the meetings.

What would they prefer?

Jail?

Sheesh!

13. Yah, if they are given a choice between AA and jail...then they are not being "forced"
to go to AA. They made a choice. But then those DAMNED 12 steppers in AA ruined their drinking...

The drinking just isn't any " fun" after meeting us.

17. My 12-step program helped me to quit therapy and recover in community.
EA suggested donation: $2 a meeting. Suggested attendance: 1 meeting a week. Yearly donation: $110.00

Therapist $120 a session. Sometimes wanted me to go twice a week.

I wonder if the person in the Lounge is a therapist who was losing money to self-help programs.
