Satanism and AA (no I'm not a Satanist! LOL...)
Has anybody here met anybody in a recovery program who claims Satanism as a higher power? It sounds like a difficult one to pull off given Satanism's emphasis on self-indulgence, but you never know I guess...

1. only before they actually try working the steps

my first HPs were (not necessarily in order)

a 6 foot tall invisible white rabbit
a valley oak tree
the group
the pole that held up the roof of the hall
Neil Burt's God (he told me to borrow his if I didn't have one)

what ever works, yanno?

2. I met one once
He had many years under his belt at that time.

It does not matter who or what your hp is as long as it ain't yourself.

3. Did you ask him about the Steps and how he worked them?
That would be an interesting tale to hear about!

4. I did not ask.
I would have to imagine he does them like everyone else.Whatever spiritual path one follows the steps remain the same pretty much. There may be slight differences depending on the path but I believe in the end they pretty much all do the same thing-Breaking the hold of the mental aspect of the disease.
