I'm really sad and upset. I feel so HELPLESS against this male dominated media & party....
and how they're intent on destroying her......and not only her now, a former beloved Democratic president.

They still control everything, these unenlightened men and token women. The great men who are trying to address sexism and change, like my husband, my sons, just aren't in these positions of power enough to do anything about it much either.

I am so upset at how the Obama campaign, his supporters, who are coming off as THUGS now, are so violently intimidating HRC & us to HAND IT OVER, or they'll wrestle it from our hands, or if it comes to it, burn the convention to the ground. They've got their male dom media in pocket to help them from now on to decry her, claim she's lost, pressure her to 'step aside'. It infuriates me. No male candidate would be treated like this. Bill Richardson is a back stabbing opportunistic jerk. He has the NERVE to talk down to Hillary in his glib little speech, claiming she was 'heated', laughing, and publicly telling her to step down, like a blow=hard manager telling his secretary to get his coffee.

I have been very active in the past, as a local NOW president (90's), activist, etc....

I knew this day of reckoning would come for 'liberals' and Dem's that would expose the sexism....I just didn't ever dream it could be like this, or of this, what could be our shining moment. A woman leading the free world! What change that would bring. How I cried when I got to mark my ballot for her, with my 18 year old son, who couldn't wait to vote for her.

I know it isn't over, but they keep banging us over the head with it, and will. I truly think they'll stoop to anything now, ruin the convention, whatever they think they can do.

I spend time here because I'm still recovering from 2 cancer surgeries and can't do much else.

I feel like crying tonight and just want it to be over.

I can't take the hatred, the disgust expressed at women, at a fine woman, at all of us.

I'll take any hugs or co-miserating.

1. Just goes to show that sexism is alive and well on the Left
as it is on the right and mushy middle. I am 42 now, and I can't say it surprises me.

3. Whoa, LulaMay! Pep talk from old JL2

The strong women I've always loved and admired march right along, make the gains, pick up the pieces--and usually come out stronger. Despite it all.
I say give this 10 years and see where it all goes. Messy now--but not the end of the story.

5. The jack-booted mind-set
shows you how desperate they
are getting. First it was all
unity this and unity that. Hope
and rainbows in the sky. Now that
the promised one has not reached
the promised land of the nomination,
his supporters want to take it by
force and threat if necessary.
Don't fret too hard about the male
media and the Hillary hating shrew
Andrea Mitchell, they are just a few
people against millions of boomer aged
voting females who will come out in
force to vote for Hillary. They are
experiencing the same frustrations you
are.

7. Here's a hug, LulaMay.
 You aren't alone in your feelings. Somehow, we will get throught this. Permanent change in America's psyche will come about by this distressing election season.

Bill Richardson, and others, who professed to be friends of the Clintons and then stabbed them in the back are beneath contempt. Treachery by so-called friends is such a hurtful and demoralizing thing. I'm sure Hillary is deeply hurt by this but she is a strong woman and I feel that this will just give her more strength to fight on.

Seek out support, as you are now doing, from like-minded folks and you'll find that you have lots of company!

We're gonna win this!

9. Oh, Lula May! You've been taking it on the chin out there amongst the thuggish mobs,...
...but take heart. The fight isn't over yet. I was pretty discouraged like you not too long ago. But listen to citizen_jane up there - she sure picked up my sagging morale a couple of weeks ago with some very fine words of strength and encouragement. Hillary has had to fight these battles for decades now, but she's become a very strong person for all those scars she's had to bear, and just for that I truly admire her and her can-do, don't-give-up spirit - all while flashing that warm smile of hers. I know that Bill C. must also be hurting (not to mention Chelsea) when he sees the rubbish and atrocious accusations they keep throwing at her. You'd think, the way the left wing also attack her, that she was worse than GWB! Nuts!

Do hope you're doing well otherwise. Here's another  for ya! I'd also take BV's advice, at least for a while, and stay out of ObamaUnderground and hang out at 'our' place. Much more fun and friendly over there!

Keep the faith! I am still confident that Hillary will win the nom, and the presidency! :)

10. Hey, Lula May.
The primaries aren't following the Obama script. You're dealing with a bunch of folks who have limited attention spans and demand immediate gratification. When the first is inadequate and the second's not forthcoming, they panic.

Just think of them as critters you wouldn't approach without a trank dart loaded with ketamine. With proper care, some of them may even recover, eventually.

14. They will not destroy Hillary Clinton
the phoenix will rise from the ashes stronger than ever. I strongly believe in the energies of the campaigns. obams energy is negative, hateful, vindictive. That can only go on for so long.

Hillary's campaign is obviously not perfect and I am not eluding to it but the dynamic is different, its just more grounded and realistic.

and I have a vagina and I consulted her and she told me to vote with her in mind. Its about damn time. ;)

15. LulaMay, I am so sorry for you and for all of us. The other thing besides
the sexism that's been exposed is the attitude that if you don't vote for Obama you're a racist. I'm so pissed off about some of the crappy attitudes of people on DU and don't believe for one moment that most of them emanate from so-called trolls.
I am not going to forget any of this, or the arrogance Obama has shown (claiming her voters would come over to him but perhaps not vice versa, for one thing). He can sink or swim without my vote, and many others who don't consider his association with Wright so easily shrugged off. I know racism when I hear it and it's astounding that so many of Obama supporters have closed their ears to the voice of reason, and have convinced themselves that white Americans are going to give him a pass on this. Many will, obviously, but many won't.
I hope you are getting well quickly. Try not to let this primary season get you too down.

I know just where your coming from and you have my prayers (if they are allowed here. lol) empathy and compassion. If you want more...and some real support...go to the cancer group. They have some wonderful, helpful, sympathetic and caring people over there who know just what you need and are prepared to help anyway they can. Just sharing is helpful. They also have a lot of information.

Take care of yourself!

19. LulaMay, I know it's discouraging.
And doubly frustrating not to be able to do much but keyboard. I hope you're making a successful recovery.

But I do believe the tables are going to turn--maybe not soon enough for winning _this_ election-- but stranger things have happened in American politics).

If it helps, however, both of my sons-in-law--good guys but I'd never have pegged them for feminists--have turned out to be strong Hillary supporters. I really do believe she has lots of support that doesn't show up in the polls. And having been through the famed Nevada caucus, I'm sure that Hillary's support in caucus states is much stronger than their delegate totals show.

Too bad nobody likes her but the people!

posts and being stalwart in fighting sexism at DU. It is appalling that there should have to be any fight over it here, of all places, but time and again, we have seen that there are many "progressives" with what I would euphemistically call a "blind spot" on this topic. I have run into such persons many times in my life but always found myself questioning my views rather than theirs until seeing so clearly here where the problem lies. I thank you for your courage in dealing head on with this BS and I DO think it makes a huge difference. Yes, there is a long way to go, but one step at a time...

On a personal level, I am so sorry about your 2 cancer surgeries and I hope you will quickly and fully recover. I have several friends in very similar positions and the web is their lifeline, at least temporarily.
