The spin-of-the-day from the Obama campaign on the morning after Clinton's victories in three of the four states holding primaries on Tuesday is that the New York senator cannot possibly overtake her rival's lead in "pledged" delegates -- that is, those won in primaries and caucuses -- and therefore has no chance of winning the Democratic nomination.

The arithmetic conveniently leaves out an essential part of the equation: Neither Obama nor Clinton can secure through the primaries and caucuses the 2,025 delegates necessary to win at the Denver convention without the votes of the superdelegates.

Also, while venturing in the GD-P you may want to visit the Erica Jong thread - Hillary vs The patriarchy - I posted there (different snippets)

"Look, the only people for Hillary Clint on are the Democratic establishment and white women," said Bill Kristol yesterday on Fox News Sunday, one of the many "news" outlets to expose Kristol's reliable sexism. "The Democratic establishment would be crazy to follow an establishment that led it to defeat year after year," Kristol continued in his woolly, repetitive style. "White women are a problem, you know. We all live with that."

Bill Kristol has been much criticized for his war mongering, arrogance, poor writing and lack of fact checking. But at least the guy is honest. He considers women a problem -- especially white women. And he feels confident enough as an alpha male to be open about it. "I shouldn't have said that," he demurred. But he can say anything he likes and still fall eternally upward. He's a white man, lord of all he surveys -- including Hillary Rodham Clinton.

2. American men hate women.
No shock there.

I sometimes think some would be happier if we went back to the days of being barefoot and pregnant while cooking their supper.

3. When I first heard about the burkas and overall horrific treatment of women
in Afghanistan, all I could think is that American men would like it like that, thank god we already have laws. They are trying to turn things back though.

5. Most aren't.
Most are wonderful and quite supportive of women and the issues we face. But a minority-a very vocal minority-would love nothing better.
