help with company tax id #

I need to find the tax id number for a company with no luck. I've tried everything. Can anyone help with a link or suggestion? thanks

1. There are several for-fee services on the web.

I just did a quick google and came up with lots of hits.

If you are an employee or former employee and need it for tax forms, try the company's HR dept.

For certain purposes the IRS will provide the info, but that is typically for business or employee/former employee use.

I used to work for a state employment office as a career counselor, and we had access to the numbers. You could try them and see if they are able to give the info out. I was never told not to, but I would probably have checked with a supervisor before doing so.
