I just moved the bulk of my 401k into two International funds. This was
the closest thing that I could do to investing in the Euro and other currencies. I was listening to a guest Hartmann had on his program about the US dollar and the need to buy gold. I left some of it in one of those retirement year (2025) plans just for bonds.

I feel the dollar is going to sink really low and I want to be in other currencies/areas of the world.

Anybody have any thoughts? I can't make a change back for about 60 days and really don't want to until some point in Obama's presidency. My plan is with Vanguard. The guy that I spoke to said international funds are riskier, but he was obliged to point that out.

1. If It Becomes Likely That Obama Wins the Election
or if he actually wins in November, expectations about the future of the federal deficit and/or the trade deficit will probably change. That could lead to gains in the dollar. Combined with the greater volatility of many international markets, that could make it quite risky to have the bulk of your investments tied to international funds.

2. Right now, I'm about 6K less than what it was in Dec 2007. I'm waiting for
it to get closer and then thinking about switching to a money market fund until I see what happens with Obama. One of the International funds had a 60-day period where, if you moved any money out, you'd incur a few percentage points fine.

While the International funds are restoring my $$$ and while you can see the weakening of the US dollar through increasing oil prices, I'm keeping it where it is.

Hopefully, in a few months, I'll be back to where I was before the housing market collapsed.

thanks for your input and your thought that and Obama administration could turn things around (at least from the market's perspective).

3. I got within $4K of what I had in Oct 2007 and thought then to move it
into a money market account and out of stocks. Now, it is back down -- even with International stocks. It sucks! I hate (R)'s.
