Recommendations for e-cigarettes
I want to try these and give up tobacco cigs. Can I get recommendations for brands? Tips?

My smoking is mostly while at the computer (which is a lot). I don't smoke much or enjoy it elsewhere. Would e-cigarettes meet that requirement for hand/mouth stimulation?

More questions but I can't think of them now that I'm making a post :eyes:

1. While I can't really recommend a brand
since I've only tried one and it's pretty weird, I can say that it does help satisfy the hand/mouth stimulation.
FWIW, the regular Smoking Everywhere cartridges taste pretty much like Marlboro Reds.
Or at least like Marlboro Reds used to before they made them fire safe. x(

2. Which one have you tried?
Thank you for your reply.

Do you think it is cheaper? Preliminary investigation seems to indicate it would cost me about half of what I'm paying for burning cigs.

I smoke American Spirit Blue, and haven't noticed any adverse effects from the FSC paper.

3. Just bought my first e-cig. I like it.
I just got a disposable kit from madvapes.com (10 bucks) to see If I'd like the e-cigs, and I'm liking it. I think that the e-cigs are going to be a great alternative for me.

If you're interested in e-cigs, give it a shot. You get a nice shot of nicotine and a relief for your oral fixation. Plus, there's no cigarette-stink.

I'll check in later (today is the first day with e-cigs), but I think this will save money, stink less, and be a bit healthier than regular tobacco.

4. Still feeling good about them?
I appreciate that information. I'm ready to make a move. I have been leaning toward the Blu brand. But this is definitely worth a try at that price point. Thanks!

5. I do not believe it's healthier than smoking tobacco... it may be worse
The jury is still out on e-cigarettes, due to the delivery of the drug and what it does to your cardiovascular system.

Please proceed with extreme care. Behavior modification has been known to work best long term in smoking cessation.

6. I use Blu Cigs
Haven't completely quit yet, but down to 1 pack every 3 days. I got down to half a pack a day on my own. The Blu Cigs took me further. Or I was, until the atomizers stopped working. But they have a one year warranty, so I returned them and replacements are on the way.

I like them. Gives me my nicotine fix without the tar. I sent the starter package to my dad for Father's Day. He's says they have helped him cut down tremendously, plus he has fun with them. He lives in California, no tobacco smoking in any public areas.

DU Member BlogSlut sells them.

11. I just started with the Blu Cigs.
So far, so good. They are mild, but I usually smoke Marlboro Ultra Lights and they are not much different.

7. Go to the ecig forum-lots of info there...
Actually, there is almost too much info there but it will ultimately save you money if you buy the right ecig for you from the start. There is a lot to learn about ecigs-batteries, atomizers, cartomizers, mods, juice etc etc and that forum can help. Here's a link to the forum. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/

If you smoke mostly at your computer, I would look into a pass-through and cartomizer combo. I've spent over a thousand dollars on ecigs and I don't think anything can beat that combo for ease of use, satisfaction and savings. A 510 passthrough would be good too and cheaper than the cartomizers. I don't want to recommend any one company because there are many good ones in the supplier section of the ecig forum that sell that combo.

At the very least, make sure you do a search on the ecig forum for any brand/model before you buy it. There are big differences between models and I think a lot of people try one model and are unhappy with it and give up on ecigs. Some of the worst brands/models are also the most expensive.

8. Last Tues I purchased my first e-cig at the local indian smoke shop
Edited on Fri Dec-03-10 06:33 PM by lyonn
I had not heard of those cigs until I was at the liquor store and the lady there had her e-cig handy. We must have made mention of our sinning with cigs and booze that caused her to tell us about her fake cig. She was so enthusiastic my daughter and I decided we should try it. Especially me since I am old and breathless. We bought what was on the counter, Super E-Cigarette was/is the brand. I started smoking mine around 7 that evening and have had a total of 6 real cigs since then. So far no bad effects and they are close to being the real thing minus the tired feeling and smoke filled everything, etc., and totally feel friskier. I had no idea how bad cigs made me feel. Well, I am 72 and have smoked since 19. It's very worth a try!!!!

Edit: Mine is the 2 pc type with the cartomizer.

9. I'm almost 1 month along with 'green smokes'
I've tried a few over the years, but this one has WORKED. I refill the cartridges myself - big $ savings.

10. I've been on the V2 cigs for two months now. Not tried others.
Pre-filled cartridges (say they're a pack's worth, but not really)

The manual batteries work better for me than the automatics.

www.v2cigs.com I think that's the web site.
