***Official weekly mileage report thread for April***
Enough people showed interest, so let's go for it.

Since this is just a motivational tool and there are no prizes, I don't think we need any hard and fast rules. If you want to track miles, fine. Hours in the saddle, sure. Time on the trainer, why not. Latecomers, couldn't hurt.

So this will make sense and be one continuous thread for the month, pay attention to using the reply feature so it will thread correctly.

I'm going to start with a goals for the month topic and post your replies to that. Then, I'll start a topic for each week within this thread and participants should post underneath it.

I hope that makes sense. So, let's ride! :-)

2. 300 miles
It's still early in the season and I'm feeling a little out of shape right now.

I plan on doing a couple of centuries this year and if I'm able to train hard enough, the RAIN ride, which is a one-day ride across Indiana for a total of 150-some miles. Couldn't hurt to try.

4. 180 miles
I rode 9.3 miles today and I'm hoping to go five days a week -- and some days, I may be able to ride more. It's something to shoot for anyway! :D

5. 150 miles.
Not sure the weather would co-operate for more milage. Damn West and South winds at 20! That's 50 miles a week for 3 weeks. I won't be near a bike the 15th thru 22nd, but if last year was an example, I'll prolly crank-out 50 miles on the 23rd when i get home just out sheer pedal fever.

Uh, no fair carrying-over March miles, right? :D

7. 6 rides, approx 100 miles
This seems amibitous but not out-of-reach, given the extra daylight we'll have soon.

(Sorry to mess up the threading already, despite all the warnings. Too early in the morning. :dunce: )

8. 215 miles
That works out to about 50 miles a week road time. I will also shoot for 45 minutes on the trainer 3 times a week, during the week. I'll go for more miles after the cold/ school/race season is over, but this is doable for now.

9. No real goal...just to keep riding
and improving...going further and faster on the flats and making it up hills without walking the bike.

10. 1 ride, 36 miles (!)
Last Saturday, April 2. I'll count it here anyway.

It was an organized event, otherwise we'd never have pushed ourselves that far. Longest ride I've done in a year; longest for my wife in 2 years.

Spectacular, bucolic route north of the LBJ Ranch in Gillespie County Texas.

:bounce:

11. About 40 miles....
Dang it!
33 miles in one ride of 3 hours on "Le Velo Rouge" and aproximately 6-7 miles tooling around town and running errands on my Norco. (need to install a cyclometer on that one...)

I was hoping for MORE!

14. 179 miles
I had way too much time on my hands on too much on my mind. I guess I'll easily reach my goal this month, perhaps even by the end of the week.

16. Let see...
Edited on Tue Apr-12-05 02:07 PM by dean_dem
It wasn't as productive a week as I had hoped.
30 minutes on the trainer 3 days.
Rode to work a couple of days, which didn't total more than 15 miles
A few laps on Saturday, probably no more than 15 miles.
And a Time trial on Sunday for about 15 more miles.

So that's about 45 miles of hard riding, and an hour and a half on the trainer.

But with that and the weight training and the racing, I need a break for a few days. My legs hurt.

17. 20 miles
15 on Sir Walter and about 5 noodlin' 'roubnd town on the Norco.
That 15 mile trip included a 3 mile stretch at about 24 MPH. the legs are coming back (so's the tailwind)

I'm going to be in Lost Wages next week, and they charge extra to ride the hamster wheel in the "spa" so it'll be 9-20 miles a day walking instead.

That makes 2 rides for 63 miles so far this month.

I certainly fulfilled the month's worth of hills on yesterday's ride. Ouch.

20. 41.7 miles
I erred in my total for last week (I accidentally added up average speed instead of distance! And I'm a math teacher!)

So for the first two weeks, I have 80.47 miles. But I've already logged over 15 miles from yesterday's ride. Unfortunately, it's going to be a rainy, drizzly week so I don't know if I'll get much riding in. :(

22. Busy week, but I managed 79 miles
Monday the 11th I put in a quick 15 miles before sundown
Rode to work 2 days for a total of 24 miles
And Saturday I put in 40 miles

So that makes 79 miles, about 5 1/2 hours of riding. It could be better, but at least I managed to get a little time on the saddle. This week is already looking better.

Glad to see that everyone is out there riding. As someone pointed out to me this week, it's not about the miles, but the journey. Enjoy the ride!

27. It got off to a good start, but still slow week...55 miles
The weather was great all week while I had to be at work, but this past weekend was either rainy or cold. But I got a good 40 miles (2 hours) in on Monday. This weekend should be better.

28. 3 short rides. Approx. 8 or 9 miles total.
Saturday just rode off-road around a ranch in the hill country. Distance-wise, virtually negligible.

Sunday did two rides. One around six or seven miles, but including some brutal climbs. Ouch. Late in the day did another very short, easy ride, with my wife's nieces. Add another couple miles.

April has 4 weeks in it, Proles...:-)

Me? About 8 miles. Too cold or too rainy. I put that in running back and forth here in town on the Norco.
