My Uncle passed away yesterday
He was my favorite Uncle, a minister, then bishop and the best conversationalist I have ever known. We could talk about everything and did! I am his oldest niece and have memories that my cousins and siblings only hear about.....I will miss him so much. I won't be able to go to his funeral. (I am in San Diego and he is in CT).

This is my Mom's oldest brother and we just lost my Dad last November.I hate being this far from home

3. I'm so sorry for your loss..
being far from home distance wise is awful, I know. Embrace your warm memories, it sounds like you had a wonderful relationship with your uncle, cherish the times you had together. My condolences on the loss of your father too! Life is so unfair at times.

please allow us to comfort you in any way we can, thank you for letting us know of your loss.

4. Thank you auntAgonist
I feel really old these days. I know it all just part of life, but it is hard to accept.

Your kind words and those of others in our forum do help. Thanks again.

5. I am so sorry *hugs* You can still talk with him, of course, but the
conversation won't work quite the same way.

I don't know if it's really my mom or just knowing my mom so long that my subconscious kinda fills in for her, but I have conversations with her. I think something and she thinks something back.

Whatever it is it's a comfort to me. I hope that you will have something like that to help keep this wonderful uncle of yours alive to you, whether it's talking with him or about him or participating in a favorite hobby of his and continuing that tradition.

6. Thanks GPV
my last conversation with him in this life, we were laughing together (three weeks ago)and that is a good memory to have.

I saw a DVD this weekend, "The Bridge on San Luis Rey". One of the final lines was that "love is the bridge between this world and the next".

I believe you are conversing with your mom and I do with my Dad and will with my Uncle.

7. I am so glad you have a great last memory to hang on to. My VERY
last conversation with my mom was not my best. :( But we did have a lovely time the weekend before so I choose to hold on to that memory instead.
