I got this email today, this help is really needed. As a parent of a student affected by diabetes, I pass this on hoping others will help spread this.
"As part of its commitment to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes, the American Diabetes Association’s legal advocacy section will host an educational program for attorneys on October 20 and 21. Fighting for Fairness: Ending Discrimination Against Students and Workers with Diabetes will provide attorneys with the information and resources needed to assist people with diabetes who face discrimination at school and in the workplace.
With a focus on school and workplace issues, the program will benefit both lawyers who want to gain a better understanding of the science of diabetes as it impacts legal rights in employment and education, and lawyers with a knowledge of diabetes who want to learn about education and employment disability discrimination law. The program will increase the ability of ADA legal volunteers to fight discrimination against Americans with diabetes.
Diabetes advocates can help in one of two ways:
* If you are an attorney with an interest in fighting diabetes based discrimination,
please visit Fighting for Fairness.
* If you are not an attorney, you can forward this to attorneys you know who might have an interest in fighting school and workplace discrimination against adults and children with diabetes. They, too, should visit Fighting for Fairness.
Fighting for Fairness is a ground breaking program that will offer CLE credits and provide participants the chance to work with top trial lawyers who have successfully brought diabetes discrimination cases in state and federal court and other venues, as well as the medical experts who have made these victories possible.
“The American Diabetes Association is committed to ending diabetes-based discrimination in the workplace and at school by making available information and assistance to people with diabetes and their lawyers. This educational program will provide valuable tools in the fight against discrimination,” said John Griffin, Chair of the Legal Advocacy Subcommittee.
Please register as soon as possible, as space is limited for this exciting new program. For more information on this program, visit Fighting for Fairness.
