in plain sight was a list of all the stores that offer the $4.00(3 months for about $10.00) list of Generic drugs. Perhaps these particular stores are only in New England but the fact that the list was posted tells me that my Doctor cares that we get the best deal he can find.

I know some of the drugs are not yet available in Generic but it pays to check them all and check often. The lists vary in each store and new ones are added frequently.

In my area (Massachusetts):

The list is:
Walmart
Target
Walgreens
Hannaford's
Stop & Shop.

As a bonus, Walgreens said the special rate can be used for Pet Prescriptions.
Which, by the way, I found out that drug stores sell the exact-in many cases-pills for pets at the same price. Pays to ask.

Years ago, the Vet prescribed Prednisone for my cat. Very pricey at the vets. Rite-Aid was far cheaper for what the pharmacist told me was the exact same pill.

Some of the pills that are over the counter and very prices are on the list too. If you take something that is readily available yet can be written as a prescription, it pays to ask the Doc to write you a script.

1. Your doc is a good one

I print out a list of the cheap drugs from all sources here (Target, Costco and Wally's) and take it with me when I need to see a doc. I tell him that's what the formulary is because I've been uninsured so long.

Every list is a little different, so I highlight the ones each list has that the others don't just to make the job a little easier.

All my scrips except the antirejection eye drops are now cheap and I'm remaining relatively stable.
