Elations...Too Good to be True? Arthritis sufferers --What do you use?
I suffer from severe and persistent arthritis in my knees, back, hip, shoulders and hands. I have daily pain and difficulty with mobility. I have tried a range of prescription options with minimal relief. I've been relying pretty much on aspirin for some relief which actually works better for me than the NSAIDs. I have tried varies Glucosomine/chondroiten pills and liquids giving them a fair 90 day trial. I thought I would try again with a product I saw in the Drug Store called Elations

http://www.elations.com/

I bought a three week supply as they state that you will see results in two weeks or your money back. I figured I'd give them a third week because my condition is so severe and that would be fair.

Well, I'm in to day four and I have to say that the joint ache has significantly improved to the point that I can honestly say my knees don't hurt when I'm sitting. I'm not able to walk without discomfort but Jeeze I'm shocked to hell that this stuff might actually work for me. I'm actually really hopeful that I might get some real relief.

I've tried other liquid joint support products with only fair to poor results. I'm thinking that the Boron that is added to this blend might be the ticket along with the Condroiten and Glucosomine. I can't explain why I would have such a good result so quickly as usually these kinds of formulas need a few weeks to kick in.

I really don't mean to sound like a commercial, I'm really skeptical of these kinds of "natural" products by nature But it goes to show you that you never know what might help. I'm not ready to dance a jig yet, or even walk across a room but I'm curious to see if it gets even better.

I'm curious to know if anyone else has found some of these kinds of products helpful at all for their joint pain

1. Update...I think I'm about 12 days in
I'm still improving. Creaking in knees is somewhat lessened and I'm feeling significant improvement in my neck and hands. Overall I'm less achey. My hip and knees are still bad but I'm able to rely a little less on the crutches when getting around the house. Sitting is a bit easier. I'm not expecting miracles but I'm really pleased with the results so far.

5. I'm guessing you have osteoarthritis
and just needed to find the G&C formula you could use most easily and best.

I've seen various formulas work wonders for people with osteoarthritis, improving comfort and functionality and delaying those joint replacements for months or even years.

I thought I was adding OA to my RA a few years ago when my knees went bad and gave it a try. Unfortunately, it's all RA in my case and the G&C did nothing.

Even if you're getting some relief as the placebo effect, it's still relief and the stuff is not going to hurt you. Go with whatever works.

7. Yes what's bothering me is the Osteo.....
The Elations has worked far better for me than the other capsules and liquid concentrates that I've tried. I'm glad to hear that you've seen the G & C work. I've been very skeptical about it because it really hasn't with me in the past. I was very pleased with the results from the Elations and I hope to see even greater improvement. Now I just hope they don't stop making it!

Even if it's all in my head...I don't care. You're right---whatever works as long as it does no harm is a good thing.

2. I think it helps me.

I take a chondroitin/glucosamine capsule morning and evening, plus an herbal anti-inflammitory called Zyflamend 1x a day that contains turmeric, ginger, etc. I have arthritis in all the places you do but I don't have near the loss of mobility you speak of. I can swear I notice a difference if I run out of the chondroitin/glucosamine and slack off on taking any of it for a several days or more.

Everything I've read about glucosamine and chondroitin stresses that the dosage is important but many companies will skimp on the actual amount of chondroitin in their products. This could explain why one brand didn't work but another did. Or who knows, maybe the boron is key. I take a boron supplement daily, too, because I have osteopenia and it's supposed to help build bone.

Anyway, I think it's a good sign that you're having steady improvement. :applause: I hope you continue to get relief.

3. Thank you for the Zyflamend suggestion
Edited on Mon Aug-04-08 03:51 PM by The empressof all
I did a little research and then went and got some today. One dose in and I sense a warmth around the inflamed areas particularly in the shoulders and pressure points. Interesting. I'm curious to see what happens. I got a 60 day supply at 1 pill 2X a day. So I'm in for the next two months.

I'm gearing up for hip and knee replacements in the future. I'm in the process of losing weight so that I'll at least be at a lower risk and have an easier time with recovery and healing post surgery. I got caught in a vicious cycle with the arthritis. The more it hurt the less I moved, the fatter I got. Not good.

I tried 3 different NSAIDS with no real relief and with the Vicodan I'm still in pain but loopy so I don't mind hurting as much. That doesn't seem like a long term solution to the problem though so I save that for the REALLY bad days.

4. I hear ya about the vicious cycle of pain and weight gain.
I've gained weight since I've had arthritis for sure because the pain makes you not want to move around too much. But regular exercise is supposed to help so I recently bought a treadmill in the hope that it would make it more convenient to exercise. We'll see how that goes.

The one thing about the Zyflamend is that it can sometimes give you heartburn. I always take mine with dinner. I sure hope you get some relief from it. Even Vicoden doesn't help? That's pretty bad. My doctor won't give me anything that powerful but the last time I had a dental surgery I got some Vicoden and it was heavenly to be without pain. I hoarded each pill for bad pain days. Sorry to hear yours is so bad even Vicoden can't help. :( How soon will you get the surgery? I know a woman who recently had knee replacement and she says she feels great now. Both knee and hip replacement would be quite a procedure, I'm sure. When do you think you'll have it done?

6. I probably won't be getting the surgery's until next year.

I want to drop another 60lbs. (I'm down about 30 already... Yeah go me) I'm really nervous about surgery while I'm so heavy. I'm not able to do much walking but I'm doing upper body resistance training and walking in the pool whenever I can.`

I try to limit the Vicodan to once a week if that. I fell back in June and saw a Dr. then who gave me Percoset which gave better relief for me but I really couldn't function much. I went through the week of my families visit for my daughter's graduation pretty much a zombie. Who knows...Maybe that was a blessing.

After three doses of the Zyflamend I'm noticing that my shoulders, neck and lower back feel less sore. Time will tell. Not expecting miracles but if it helps even a little bit...that's a lot!

8. So I'm a little over two weeks in on the Zyflamend
I am very happy with this product. I haven't noticed significant impact in the joints but I have noticed significant reduction in discomfort in my pressure points and in my shoulders and neck muscles. Thanks for passing the info on about this product. It is a keeper for me and has improved the quality of my life and my functioning levels. I'm curious to see if the results get better as time goes on.

12. I got it at my local healthfood store
Edited on Thu Sep-11-08 07:43 PM by The empressof all
I think if you go to their site they list where it's available in your community. I would imagine you can order it through drugstore.com too.

I like it as It does not contain Condroiten/Glucosomine so I can take it with the Elation without worrying about overdosing myself.
