19. Yes, you missed it
At work, when they replace equipment, they raffle off the old stuff, and I got one from work for nada. We had to load an operating system, ordered the wireless Internets connection, etc., but the machine was free. I have to invest in some more memory -- it only has 128 mb. I'm pretty excited, but I'm typing much, much slower.

Great minds differ. I think the bluish shirt tones down the gooseshitness brown. A white shirt emphasizes its worst tones, indicating that 1991 called and it wants its suit back. :)

but it should tug a little more gently in that direction. We shouldn't be so aware of the blatant toning-down influence. If it were just the weensiest bit less blue, it would be perfect.

Show up hands, who thinks they'll be getting a big fat bill for it later on?

And which one of you corrected the spelling of "promissory" after they boofed on the crawler the first time? When I was watching Countdown last night and noticed the typo, I wondered which one of you would be the first to complain. :-)

105. you mean "Congress could decide that what we're doing at Gitmo is okay"
how about "Congress could decide to follow the Geneva Convention" -- you know that thing that civilized countries, something we used to be, adhere to? What is so hard about treating the Gitmo prisoners like human beings? Why are they supposed to be superduper triple-awful monster scum of the Earth not deserving of the rights accorded to any other military prisoner? What does it make us when we can't follow the basic rules of human decency that we agreed to decades ago? Are these guys really worse than any other prisoners we've ever taken? I don't see how. What I see is that we demean ourselves and our country and become more like the regime we were supposedly taking down when we deposed Saddam by setting up these nightmare prisons with no realistic hope of escape.

103. yeah, I wondered who they were thinking of sending when they mentioned
"top diplomat". Seriously, it took me a minute to realize he was referring to Rice. Yeah, she's SoS, but a diplomat she is not.

104. I was hoping Keith would show that clip last night.
Perhaps Jon Stewart will show it on The Daily Show tonight or it will make it's way around the 'net.

85. What happened to her? I know her family was from MIssissippi and were
impacted by hurricanes, not sure if it was Katrina though, might have been the 2004 storms. I think she left soon after that.

on his picks for WPITW. Nice touch. I love seeing the looks he gets on his face when he talks about these idiots.

And yes, I call Coulter Annthrax regularly. Looks as if she wants to earn the name honestly.

91. What to do, what to do?
Okay, I have a dilemma.

There's a candidates' forum/debate I'm supposed to go to Sunday at 11:30 that Nancy and Pan Godchaux (one of the Repubs in the Repub primary) and possibly Joe Knollenberg (the Repub incumbent)will be at. I've been working hard on Nancy's campaign and there was no question I was going to go. This event is not even five minutes from my house. I'm not sure how long it's supposed to last.

Now I got an e-mail that there's a big rally on Sunday at 12:30 for volunteers and precinct campaigns with President Kerry and Governor Granholm to celebrate the work that volunteers will do to win this campaign. It's about 15-20 minutes from my house. I would so love to attend this.

I'm so torn. I really feel I should go to the event Nancy will be at to show my support and see how it goes, but there also aren't that many opportunities to see Kerry. As far as the governor, I am going to a reception for her tomorrow after work, so if it was just her, it wouldn't be such a big deal.

I sent an e-mail to the coordinator for the Kerry event asking her if she thought it would start on time and that if I get there at 1 or 1:30 would it be worth my while to even bother, but I'm just so torn.

What would you guys do?

92. If it's a rally
there's a good chance it won't start on time. If he's scheduled after the first hour, I'd say you have at two hours. Maybe you could let Nancy know in advance that you need to be somewhere at 1:30.

Keep us posted.

93. Having been to Kerry events before, that's what I assume --
Edited on Tue Jul-18-06 08:45 PM by SharonRB
that he'll be late, as will the governor, most likely. Of course, when I saw him before, he was running for president, so his schedule was a bit tighter than it probably is now. I guess another concern is that if I get there that late, will there be parking still available, etc. I know how crowded these events were when he was running, but I don't think it will be that bad now. It's at a union hall.

Nancy's event is only supposed to be an hour, so I could get to the other one by 1. Even if Nancy's event is longer, if I stay in the back of the room, I can cut out early. It's not a large venue -- it's at the Workmen's Circle (Arbeter Ring) near me, where they have a nursery school and I assume some kind of auditorium. I've never been in the building, but it's pretty small. I'll see Nancy on Saturday and I can let her know ahead of time what's going on and give her a heads up. I'd really love to get to both of them if at all possible.
