KOEB Meeting 5/19/06--Keefless Baseball Hooky Night Edition
If you look at the show tonight and ask "Where's Keith?"

...no need to ask. He's doing this:

and watching these guys:

and, well, you get the idea.

Shoulda seen that Subway Series coming...but I was kinda hoping he'd skip tonight and just go to the other games.

Oh well.

Damn Yankee apologist.

20. If you have
any program where you can resize pictures, do it to 98 x 98, and save it as a .jpg. Save it on your desktop and then upload it to DU where it asks you to. If you want to have it link somewhere, just put the URL in the box.

27. I tried w/Paint
& resizing to 92x92. It kept giving me only a portion of the pic, so after much swearing & carrying on, I decided to stick with text stickies. Plus, now I'm out of stickies, so it's all moot anyway.

Thanks for the tips! I'll save them for next time.

32. Especially when the storms come up suddenly
Edited on Fri May-19-06 07:21 PM by WolverineDG
AT NIGHT!!!

There I was, innocently playing on the computer when WHAMMO! the storm hit. Then I open the door to see what's going on, all sorts of sirens go off, I hear a roar that sounds like a train & close by, but the tracks are a couple of miles from me & the trains don't sound that loud and a siren on top of the others that sounds like an air raid siren. So, it's either a tornado or the Luftwaffe. I pick "tornado." HOLY CRAP! Cats flee to parts unknown, I dive in the closet, keeping my hand on the door. Door starts shaking, I start praying really hard.

It must not have come too near my place because there wasn't too much damage, just branches & signs down, in my area. But, I was still :scared:

And now Leopold has "some 'splainin' to do, Loosy."

"Ahead of the news cycle," my eye. I could say right now that * was going to resign next week according to my "sources." If he didn't, people would laugh me off DU. If * resigned next winter, know what would happen if I said "See, I wasn't wrong, I was just ahead of the news cycle"? I'd be laughed off DU again.

66. I think someone has some explaining to do, but I also think there's
something going on that we aren't privy to. Fitz supposedly told Rove & Co. he'd have a determination in 10 days (a few weeks ago that was said). So why have we heard nothing? I do think there's something there that we will eventually hear about. If it's that KKKarl or someone else is squealing, I can wait.

52. OK - that lead-in sucked.
The DaVinci Code does NOT deny that Jesus was divine - only that he lived as a man and had a wife. Duh. He could still have been Divine. Geesch.

And, it doesn't potray the Catholic Church as evil - but more as trying to preserve itself.

:eyes:

Who wrote THAT copy?

72. Part of the reason I finally read it
was that I wanted to read all of those books about it. :)

I still can't bring myself to contribte to Jack Van Impe. Although, I admit I love his hair -- and Rexella.

Analysis is something only weak, cowardly, terrorist-coddling liberals do, don'tcha know?

59. My plan (in case I get interviewed)
is to say something along the lines of "Who's to say that DIDN'T happen? What is more important? The message Jesus taught or whether or not he got it on with someone. And those protestors over there? Where the hell were they when all those priests were molesting kids? Why the hell aren't they protesting the war? Both of these things contravene EVERYTHING Jesus taught."

heh

96. I always catch that stuff too, Clark.
And may I say that filed under Careers I Don't Understand is Sharon Waxman's. I thought she was a hack and totally clueless about the movies when she was at The Washington Post, and I had to scrape my jaw off the floor when she landed at The New York Times.

Waxman didn't even know in what DECADE Martin Scorsese made The Last Temptation of Christ (Yet another movie based on a novel, and something my then-pastor announced -- right from the pulpit -- he was interested in seeing). Where's that guy with the hook when you need him?

89. Yeah, Keith should get back in there and give 'em all a dressing down.
And for the record, I don't think I'm being mean about Leopold. He and the Truthout gang said some pretty nasty stuff about the MSM and how they were suppressing this story and so on, and they were pretty cold about it. Now they're looking less and less credible by the day, and the tables are turned, and now we're supposed to go easy on 'em when they were thumping their chests all week about having scooped the MSM and what a bunch of Bush-lovin' cowards the MSM were?

Well, I know we don't know the whole truth yet, but we do know one thing: nothing happened this week, and they made this week sound like a slam-dunk. A lot of people popped champagne corks merely reading what they said. I didn't. Precisely because I was afraid of something like this.

Maybe they got used and used good. Maybe there's more to all this than meets the eye. In the meantime...they're going to get some heat, and it's to be expected.

I will stop there, lest this become a thread about that.

90. I have ALWAYS had a problem with this story
AFAIK, women are still free to do what they want in this country. SHE wasn't the one who created a huge firestorm over "disappearing." It was whipped up by a bored/lazy media. Okay, she lied when she was discovered & she should be called on that, BUT I don't think SHE should have to pay back ANY money to the city/state/county law enforcement for the searches being done. She wasn't the one who got everyone all riled up. Everything she did (up to lying about being kidnapped) was/is perfectly legal for a woman to do: get on a bus & get out of town. There is no law requiring a woman to let someone know what she is doing or where she is going.

98. But she cost a lot of people a lot of money with her lies
and that alone made this a story...for a while, anyway.

Now, it is no longer a story. Move along. Nothin' here to see. Just two more people who broke up.
