Just read a funny ap story about the ugly Olympic skating costumes...
Edited on Thu Feb-23-06 03:49 AM by Gogi
this year. They are supposed to reflect the music, of course, though some of them are so loaded down with sequins it's difficult to say what they reflect except the stadium lights. I had the thought that the IOC had better hope no skater ever skates to Salome's Dance because they just might wear a break-a-way costume. Envision it, female skater wafting around the rink with filmy pieces of chiffon flying off her! Come to think of it, that's probebly the only way to get the majority of men to watch figure skating.

1. Which one was it? I think there have been a few good articles on that.
One thing that it seems you can always count on is bad taste in some people's skating costumes. Ice dance is the worst. I don't know what it is about them, but the taste of half of them is in their mouths.

Actually, Michelle Kwan did skate to Richard Strauss's Salome many years ago if I remember right. But she was only sixteen at the time and somehow good taste prevented her from "going all the way."

10. They think the women wear underwear?
Panties (attached to their costumes)? Yes. Underwear? Heck no!

3. I think that the ugly costumes
contributed to the fight between the Italian Ice Dancers. If they didn't actually "contribute" to the problem, they certainly couldn't have helped the situation. :)

4. I think the scoring system needs to be changed again
a third set of scores should be given for costumes. For Botany's sake, extra points will be given for the Star Trek "will she or won't she fall out of the costume?" factor. :o

5. I would support
a ban on the use of day-glo orange. My eyes still hurt from that get-up worn by one of the Ukranians (?) in the womens' short program the other night.

11. I believe the only lady from Ukraine that they showed would have been
Elena Liashenko. Yeah, I am all in favor of banning any form of fluorescent costuming. Ouch!
