2. Got your popcorn?
 :hi: Patsy!

This should be fun. Beware of the Blob!

The Stern part should be amusing. Today on Dan's show Keith was expressing Howard envy because he has it so cushy. Dan was teasing him, saying that Howard's new announcer, George Takei, was hitting on him.

The chimp was introducing him and sounded like a drunk sailor, and
Alito was just standing there (probably thinking "get me the hell outta here")

172. Yet another thing I love about Keith.
Remember his Valentine's show last year and "Love Stinks"? He said that if you were sitting at home watching the show, or if you were already home from your date, you must not be having that great Valentine's Day everyone talks about. So, he said, here's something to amuse you anyway, and we hope you laugh your head off.

Naturally, I was :loveya:

all. I hope he doesn't use them for Pillsbury Roveboy's indictment speech although if he indicts him soon I'l forgive him any bad analogies he wants to make.

Oh look away, blivet can't even pronounce the joke about his not being able to pronounce words. What a turd.

When my fundie Republican dad visited me once, I got tickets to see the Senate
in session (several years ago). When Ted Kennedy got up to speak, my dad
leaned over to me and whispered, "That's the biggest blow-hard in the Senate."
That's when I knew we really could never discuss politics again!!!!!

152. Check the Surface thread for my comments on the show.
I thought Keith was the best actor on the whole thing. He was extremely convincing at playing the role of a snarky anchorman on an MSNBC news show called Countdown with Keith Olbermann.

Which is more than I can say for the other actors in their roles.

Best dream scenario, Sammy Strip Search doesn't even make it out of committee.

I know, I know, unlikely but wouldn't it be sweet.
Let's just hope Dems realize, and I'll be calling them to remind them, that this is their last best chance to stop these fascists in their tracks.

55. Hi Sharon. I haven't read upthread yet. I've been finding that I can't
post and read in real time on my new lappy-toppy without losing concentration on the crucial first fifteen to twenty minutes of the broadcast.

Spector certainly has to be pissed that Mr. 'two-terms mandate' Bush and his henchmen strong armed him right after the election last year and threatened to take the judiciary chairmanship away from him. He had dared to mention that the President had to be mindfull of what the people who 'elected' him wanted in a Supreme Court nominee and then they took him out to the woodshed and humiliated him into repudiating his own statement. That, coupled with the wingnut's position on no stem cell research has got to have Arlen plenty pissed. Still, I wonder if he realizes that the citizens of Pennsylvania expect him to be a moderate Republican, otherwise they can just as easily get themselves a Dem (without Diebold of course). Let's hope he does, because he has the power to put the kabosh on this nominee and to encourage one more sane Republican on Judiciary to do so too. I think Dems must definitely stear away from the Roe arguement and boldly point out the 'signing statement', strip search of minors, rascist descisions, and executive overreach positions that Alito has taken. This is one scary nominee.

143. Oh, I know I can get ESPN Radio on Sirius, too.
I should add that I had another reason for picking XM. I thought they were going to run a concert I very much wanted to hear. However, the promise thus far has turned out to be empty. :-(

Even so, I like the lineup of XM channels, and they have MSNBC and Sirius does not. One never knows when one will be on the road with one's radio when no Keith-showing TV is nearby. If I can't get the Keithy visuals I can at least get the voice.

Jeez, Keith, I hear you doing their commercials: "It's radio to the power of X." You'd think ya didn't know the first thing about satellite radio, little boy.

I couldn't help but wonder if Howard's remarks about no longer having to worry about management not liking what you say because you can get your own show elsewhere were pointed directly at Keith!

Next stop Chi town, Lido put the money down and let it roll

He said one more job ought to get it

One more for the road

Lido, whoa-oh-oh-oh
He's for the money, he's for the show

Sayin' toe the line or blow, and that was all she wrote

audience from his spar with Letterman. It also went after Keith at the end of the article and mentioned his viewership was one-fifth of O'Leilly's. Never mentioned that BOR has been on for three times as long as KO and that KO's audience is growing. Also I thought KO's audience was 800K, someone check my math, is 800K only one-fifth of two and a half million?.

Edited on Mon Jan-09-06 09:41 PM by BerryBush
It usually hovers between 300K and 400K. During Katrina sometimes he'd get up in the 500K range and I think he may have hit 600K at one point.

But it doesn't matter because the real issue is that not nearly as many cable systems offer MSNBC as offer Faux News. You can't watch Keith if he's not on your cable--unless you get a dish.

And the REAL issue is that ratings might does not make right--it's the only thing they can throw back at Keith so they always do. "He has low ratings, nobody watches his show." Yeah, whatever. If nobody watches his show, why does what he say get to them so badly??? Obviously, they feel threatened by him.

Because he speaks truth.

157. Before everyone leaves, please show Keith some love here:
This joker actually wrote a story about SNARKY JOURNALISM, mentioned many practitioners of it, and COMPLETELY OMITTED ONE...

http://www.marketwatch.com/news/story.asp?page=1&guid={B109B53D-3670-4E03-BFB6-5522666F6AAF}&siteid=google

This glaring oversight MUST be corrected.

Of course, he says he's going to have an interview with the "Godfather of Snark" on Wednesday and a story on Friday on "the leading practitioner today," but what do you want to bet his "godfather" will be some old coot and his "leading practitioner" will be Jon Stewart? Sheesh.

I'm not exactly sure how you reply to the question, but someone should...if only to say that snark and good journalism CAN coexist, and we see it happen regularly weeknights at 8 ET on MSNBC.

167. Had to step out before the end of the show, came here to check the end
of the thread and saw it was awfully looooooong for a Monday night.

I suspect there has been a tie discussion while I was gone. That is the only thing that could have inspired such length. I will read now and see if I am right.

I'm starting to think we get him a really gorgeous silky solid tie. I know it'll look better on him than on little Dana Milbank. I see a lot of his guests with spiffy solid ties with great shirts (darker colored shirts) and dark suits. So, whatya think? We will definitely be able to recognize it too because he always wears stripes, except for tonight (I kind of liked that tie sort of).
