Two-hour Keef tonight.
Apparently, to discuss the end of the world since the ascention of neo-cons in EVERY facet of society (kidding - well, not about the neo-cons, but that Keith will be discussing this).

Here's the newsletter:

Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger of Germany was elected Tuesday by his peers to lead the Roman Catholic Church after the death of Pope John Paul II. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7523254/

The TWO-HOUR show is still in flux, but you can expect full coverage of the first new Pope in 26 years.

Countdown w/ Keith Olbermann broadcasts LIVE at 8 pm et, and the count is never complete without you. Join us.

1. You owe Patsy a Coke
or maybe some sardine on toast sorbet, which is slightly less disgusting to me than the new choice of Pope. I really didn't want it to be Ratzinger, and I'm not even Catholic.

2. Could that be because of the way ...
... the newly minted Benedict pointlessly intervened in our 2004 election campaign?

Btw, one of the cable news mavens (I was switching frequently between them, so can't recall which one) informed the folks at home that Joe is really friendly and kind on a one-to-one level. (imagine these two in red )

3. actually, it wasn't that particular incident
although I'm none too pleased about that, either. Africa's on fire, and the last thing we need is yet another Pope with his head in the sand wrt to the use of condoms for preventing the spread of HIV.

4. I admit, I feel the same
Another non-Catholic chiming in, saying I feel sad for all the Catholics who will yet again find themselves dealing with a Pope who will not understand the complexities of their lives. And will probably think the whole idea of women being more involved in their church is a big fat joke. *sigh*
