ASTB 9/20/05
Because his memorial service was today, today's ASTB thread pays tribute to Peter Jennings.

I would say "Post away, mateys," but I'd be a day late.

Oh, what the heck. Post away, mateys.

1. During Tweety's show they were hyping the show
with "be afraid of sex offenders who have disappeared."

I swear - whoever is in charge over there needs to get a grip. What I hated is that they showed a picture of Keith - as if he would go with such a "dramatic" story. :eyes:

Don't get me wrong. Of course, there should be concern. But this damned network keeps crossing the line into sensationalism.

3. Bless me Rev ......
But do you think Crispin or GK are in danger
because of hurricane Cosby? Does salt water effect 'cuffs?

Also * went back to NO today?! :grr:

6. Gina might be in the path...
Crispi's pretty far inland. Besides, Reeeter wouldn't DARE go after her.

Salt water can corrode cuffs, causing them to rust. Therefore, cuffs may become "stuck". Fair warning - so be good. O8)

Chimpy is swimming in circles in a kiddie pool, afraid of drowning.
What I'm more worried about is the way they might show baby bro as competent.

20. No salt water in Dallas
unless Rita carries one HELL of a storm surge. :) If Dallas gets anything, it will be rain & maybe wind. I'm hoping that if it has to hit Texas, it makes a "field goal" in South Texas, meaning, it lands in Kenedy County again where there are more cows than people. :)

Unfortunately, the Yankees are creaming Baltimore tonight. But they're still 1 1/2 games out of the wild card, tee hee. Then again, if they win the East, what do they care?

14. Blind man who was forced to evacuate gets his guide dog back!
Isn't it wonderful how dogs love being reunited with their families? It's so different from when the cats get reunited! (I have both animals, and I love that their differences are so fun and fascinating).

"Thank goodness, I won't be forced to advertise for new servants...you know how hard it is to find good help."

17. LOL
There was a story the other night about a man who drove 10 hours to claim his cat, and when he picked up the cat, the cat looked like: Oh, OK, its you- where's my dinner?

....and I need a nap!

:boring:

18. A hit and run to say hi
and I am stay a live and kicking. I decided to work 3, 13 hours days a week instead of 5 or 6 shorter hours. Saves on gas and might eventually give me more time off. So I leave here about 8 am and get home about 11 pm. After playing with the birds, petting the dogs, scratching the cats and chasing the ferrets end up tucking them all in for the night and falling a sleep. After cleaning what needs and all that normal everyday yuck stuff. And this week trying to do more stuff to get ready for being in DC over the weekend so not around much. At least I am not missing Keith this week. Though have found that 3 days of taped Keith will not lead to an overdose though it might cause some active REM sleep. And somewhere in there I made my sister's non-profit a page and have been keeping it up to date on their Katrina relief. Hopefully soon we (me and all the animals) will adjust to the new schedule enough that I can be here for the show a couple nights a week.
Didn't know they found the dolphins until I read the thread, great news now get them in a pool before the evil Rita messes with them.

Off to bed, hope everyone has a good night and week. Hope Patsy kept power and felt little of evil Rita and it misses the TX EDVs somehow.

22. whew - I'm tired just looking at your schedule.
Glad to know things are going well, despite the weird hours. I imagine the critters will look at you when you're home all day with that "what are you doing here" look. (I know mine do.)

25. Surprising, isn't it?
Roo was the one who would literally run to the door, greet me, then promptly turn his back on me for an hour and pout. Then he'd forget that I was gone, and all was fine.

Damned fine cat, that Roo. :)

26. Mine used to greet me at the door.
But since she is no longer a solo cat, she doesn't care as much anymore. Guess she doesn't get bored during the day any longer! So that's a good thing.

27. don't you love
cats who hold grudges? ;) i had a friend once with a cat who did this to the extreme. if she "put you on ignore" and you left the room, she FOLLOWED YOU and made it a point to let you know you were STILL on ignore in that room too.

28. On the schedule it is
Edited on Thu Sep-22-05 03:53 PM by CC
a matter of going from nothing to extreme in a way after being off all summer. Just a readjustment. They hardest part of it is missing KO live and that there are no windows at all on the floor I work on. I call it the caves, my boss calls it the dungeons. Fluorescent lights that are off most the time are it beyond the glow of monitors. I really think the lack of daylight is the hardest part.

On the cats, they have way to much competition to use cattitude. Ignore the person and a ferret, dog or bird will fill your spot, or one of the other traitorous cats. Just doesn't work when something will fill the void you leave.:rofl:Even semi feral AP has learned to meow for attention and stay put if he wants ear and chin scratches. Though he still needs to have the shelves between him and the hubby if he lets hubby pet him. The cats tend to save their cattitude for him. It is hardest on the dogs as they don't have much playing fetch time. BTW the cats play fetch too but they can play in the house.

30. Have you tried a natural light lightbulb?
They're full-spectrum bulbs, which intend to mimic sunshine. A real life-saver in Wisconsin winters. February is the longest damned short month in the whole year.
