My 18 year old cat crossed the rainbow bridge Friday night.

Miss Kitty, The Queen of the Universe, had not been doing well of late.

She had not been eating; only drinking water.

She was in no pain, but I knew her time was near.

Tonight, she was lying on the couch at my feet.

I finally couldn't stand it any more, and picked her up to hold her.

Five minutes later, she passed on.

I held her for a long time, because I couldn't bear to let her go.

But, finally, I knew I had to.

The Seattle Humane Society does private cremations, where the ashes are returned to the pet's humans, so that is what I'm going to do.

This hurts so very much, and I think one reason why is that it's so close to the death of my mother

I got her from one of the Humane Societies shelters, when she was nothing more than a tiny ball of grey fur with big ears.

She's been my constant companion for all these years, and I wish her nothing but peace.

17. He is doing very well.

He's had to make a few adjustments because of his mouth-if something drops on the floor I have to get it for him because he can't pick it up and he tends to drool a lot more, but he's eating well and back to his playful self.

The picture is of Sheridan and his new stuffed cow. It moos when you squeeze it. I never could have bought something like that in the past as he could shred a soft toy in nothing flat. I use to call him the "Toy Killer". Since he no longer has his lower front teeth, he can't tear up his toys, so I bought it for him a few days ago. He loves it. Of course he nearly drove me crazy with the mooing, but I'm just grateful to have him with me and healthy.

I am so, so, so sorry hon! She's in a better place, so take comfort in that. I'm sure she's having a grand time, with no more pain and no more suffering. Take heart--the Good Lord will send you another kitty when you least expect it!
