By 8:40 PM, my favorite program is turned off. I wait anxiously for
Countdown Monday thru Friday but give up watching by the time the silliness rolls around. Keith is the best there is but I am so sick of the foolishness and Britney Spears type of coverage that off goes the TV. I don't find it at all entertaining to hear that blather.

Keith is the smartest and most powerful newsman on TV today. I look forward to his show every evening but I no longer want to hear Oddball or parts that are usually of no real import. Keith has made his mark as a very powerful voice on the airwaves. He does not need to be so silly. The world is too complicated. We need real news. An hour hardly covers it, let alone about half of that. This is not meant to be critical of Keith.

MSNBC should rethink its options for the programming of Countdown.

1. To each his own, I guess.
I am not always happy with the #1 story but I enjoy the rest of the show. I wouldn't want to watch nothing but serious news for an hour. I need my comic relief and things with no import. Keith makes his mark just fine in my eyes and delivers plenty of real news in the time he has.

And his silliness is one of the things I treasure most about him. If he were dour and grave about the state of the world all the time, he wouldn't be Keith and I wouldn't be near as much of a fan.

2. It is not Keith that I want to avoid at the end of the show, it is the
subject matter in the last segment or two. I no longer want to hear about Paris Hilton, Brittany Spears and the like. They are overexposed and are no longer news or entertainment in my estimation.

My intent was to suggest that the subject matter of the last segment be reviewed. Certainly there are good deeds or events that would be not only entertaining but of real news, not worthless fluff.

And Yes, I do think Keith is the best newsperson on TV. I do enjoy his sly expression, his silliness at times. Don't take it as criticism of Keith, he is great.
