Ok I looked it up but I still don't get it?
Just hanging out watching the rerun and on the story where the environmentalists planted wildflowers to stop the housing development, KO said, "Next up, they're going to plant tripids. Look it up."

Well, I still don't know if I'm spelling it right-- probably not-- but the spelling I have agrees with the spelling on the closed captioning, and I can't find that word in M-W or google?

1. triffids
Day of the Triffids. Old sci-fi flick. They were plant-like creatures that (naturally) wanted to kill humans. Don't remember much else, off the top of my head.

2. Triffids were malignant space weeds that formed pods which grew clones of
the grade z actors in the movie in a vain attempt to take over the world.

4. hey, this is one of the movies alluded to in the opening song
of Rocky Horror Picture Show. Wouldn't that make them grade x actors? :P

"And I really got hot when I saw Jeanette Scott
fight a triffid that spits poison and kills"

8. Realized after I posted that I had confused two movies.
'Day of the Triffids' has a meteorite that blinds everyone and then the space weeds eat'em; the Pod story features a scientist who is growing the space weeds in a greenhouse and, when someone enters said greenhouse, a pod person is generated. Saw the Pod movie when I was seven/eight years old and that's all I remember. That and being much impressed!
