Congress Passes $60k Law School Loan Forgiveness Program for Prosecutors and Public Defenders

Bush signed it into law yesterday (Aug 14 2008), where it then became Public Law No: 110-315.

Have to say, I'm impressed by Bush signing this (and not scratching it out or issuing a signing statement). Only in a Dem Congress could we get something like this. Now us poor law school grads can go into public service w/o worrying as much about loan debt. Kudos to all who supported this.

for ten years in public health or rural, underserved locations will get total debt forgiveness. (This was in response by a caller complaining that her son couldn't afford to go to dental school.)
