Dáil set to approve motion on NI crime
From RTE News:
08 February 2005 22:55

The Dáil is expected to overwhelmingly approve a motion calling on the Republican movement to end all criminal and paramilitary activity, after agreement was reached on a motion to be voted on tomorrow.

Agreement on the motion was reached after the Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, confirmed that the early release of the killers of Detective Garda Jerry McCabe was no longer on the table.

Fine Gael had believed the Government's original proposed wording was ambiguous on the McCabe issue.

Mr Ahern also told the Dáil that the Government would not be intimidated by threats, no matter how implicit or subtle. This paved the way for substantial cross-party agreement.

1. Fianna Fail
Should remove any reference to them being a Republican party. They are a bunch of traitors. How about producing some damn evidence.

2. Dave, the question is who founded "Fianna Fail"?
I pretty positive you know the answer and their stand on these issues shouldn't really surprise you at all.

My take on this is this: FF is scared shitless by the gains Sinn Fein has made in past elections in the Republic. This is politics, pure and simple.

4. Dave, here's what my husband's and I lovely MP
had to say in yesterday's Irish Independent: http://www.unison.ie/irish_independent/stories.php3?ca=39&si=1334446&issue_id=12047

But, then again, Mr. McGrady is a member of the SDLP or as Mr. Wonderful refers to them: the Stoop Down Low Party.

5. you need to register to view
the sdlp are a bunch of sellouts. They are not standing up for their community. The community recognizes this and that is why Sinn Fein has been usurped them as the largest nationalist party.

6. It doesn't cost anything to register for the Irish Independent.
Unfortunately it's a real right wing rag, but Mr. Wonderful likes it for it's GAA coverage.

7. Good.
Bertie has got a fairly comprehensive coalition of TD's to support this motion. I hope it is passed with a very large majority.
