Chicago Celtic fest

If anyone here is in Chicago may I suggest you go see Troy MacGillivray an amazing fiddle player from Cape Breton

1. we are having our Irish Fest this weekend here in Pittsburgh
some cool bands will be playing -trad. and otherwise. Including the Screaming Orphans. They sound like fun!

2. One of these years I'd like to get over to Pittsburgh's fest
This weekend was a local storytelling festival I was helping with, tho.
Next weekend is the Michigan Irish Music Fest in Muskegon (I'm doing a gig for them), so I'll get my "Irish fix" there (www.michiganirish.org for that one)

3. it's always fun to see different bands
last night i saw The Screaming Orphans - it's the first all female "Irish rock" band I've seen, complete with a woman who sings and plays drums well - other than the hip -swaying sisters I saw a year or two ago. They were very good, too. I love those "all sisters" bands...

A few years ago at the fest here, I saw a band of guys who did period Civil War military and late 19th century American tunes- they also wore period uniforms. Wish I coud remember their names.
