What is your opinion about supplements?
I'm curious if any of you have had any success with them. I am currently starting a fitness routine after not excercising regularly for a couple of months. I am wanting to tone up (which I can see already happening) but I sometimes wonder if any of those supplements could help me lose fat around my butt and thighs? That seems to be the only place that fat accumulates and I'd like to drop one pant size.

What are your thoughts/suggestions?

1. You can't spot reduce fat
you can only reduce the amount of body fat that you have. By supplements, I assume you mean thermogenics (fat burn pill, like hydroxycut) they are not a replacement for a solid diet. They can AID a solid diet, but the people I have seen use these expensive pills eat bad because they think they can take a pill to make up for it. I would suggest to leave these expensive things alone that CAN be dangerous. If you do use them, consult with your doctor about the specific ones you intend on using and stick to plain green tea extract/caffeine ones. As you can probably tell, I am against these "supplements"

2. no strong opinions about supplements one way or t'other
but my opinions about YOU are that you already rock.

Your BMI (you posted your height/weight on another thread) is as healthy as can be, and you just started a terrific exercise routine that should give you great results in terms of overall fat loss and muscle tone in your legs & rear.

Re the supplements... I guess I'm just more "pro-food!" i think if you just eat real foods that have lots of nutrients (my faves for that are things like yams and strawberries and asparagus and fresh broccoli and cantaloupe and almonds and spinach and pistachios and dang now i'm making myself hungry), maybe take a multivitamin and/or some calcium and Vitamin D for your bones, and wait for the results from your exercise, you'll be fine.

3. thanks!
I love all those foods you just listed. I think both of you are right, I can achieve my goal through exercise and eating healthy, which is exactly what I plan to do.

I'm looking and feeling better already.
