Starting back in training
4 weeks after surgery, I'm starting back. After practicing the short taichi routines, I'm going on a long half-mile walk.

Don't worry, this won't void my warranty. :P

1. Light workout at the gym
Stretching, a long tai chi practice (empty-hand forms), 5 mins on the stairmaster (just wanted to see how it felt), and 15 mins on the elliptical rider yesterday. No pain today.

I plan on going back twice next week.

The weight is down, but the surgical diet is rather extreme. I don't recommend it. :P

2. Sounds great, LA
How are you feeling?

I started a Qigong practice after being diagnosed with cancer back in November and I really feel that it's helped me through all of the ups and downs associated with illness. Surgery can be rough (okay, that's an understatement!), and especially when you're used to being active, it can be hard to be away from the gym for a long time while recuperating. I just started my scaled-down gym routine a few weeks ago too, slowly building myself back again.

Glad to hear you were pain-free! :)

3. Good job!
I am starting my recovery from ankle surgery, too. Hope it goes as smoothly as yours. :hi:

4. Back from the 1st follow-up appt
the surgeon says I'm in good order and ready for standard activity--but start back slowly and be wary of pain. Don't overdo. I return for a 2nd follow-up in 6 wks.

Gonna try an easy 2 mile run.

:woohoo:
