Friday, 1/13: I worked out today--did you?
Hi gang! :hi:

Today I ran my 1 mile on the track (12:52:96) and then did 25 minutes on the elliptical.

After that I went into the weight room and did my leg stint and my new lower back exercise.

My diet yesterday was near perfect.

How are you folks managing?

1. Not so good
The scale told a sad tale this AM. Despite two a day work outs and throttling down the calories for the last two weeks I'm up close to my highest weight ever. Looks like this weekend is in for some major cardio. I also was not at all pleased with what I saw in the mirror last night. The new climbing gym has a workout room with full length mirrors. We don't have one at home so I never really see my self.

Anyway, Did some bench presses this AM and will do some running tonight.

4. Those full length mirrors really force you to do a body check, don't they?
When I first started going to my new yoga studio -- they have floor to ceiling mirrors -- I wanted to look ANYWHERE but at myself. But gradually I am getting used to it. I think it's a good idea to have a realistic handle on my body image. Plus, the more I go, the better it gets! ;)

6. Scales are unreliable
I had a great day (diet-wise) yesterday, and the scale told me this morning that I was up 3 lbs. from yesterday. I don't believe it for a minute.

7. That's true, the important thing
is, are you adding muscle and trimming fat? The only way to tell this is by doing percent body fat measurements, or by measuring yourself.

8. Maybe, but my pants are lying too
I weigh myself every day and know where to stand to get consistent results. I also know enough to take water weight, food intake fluctuations, etc into account. I was really expecting it to be lower today and was greatly disappointed with what I saw

2. Day off today. I'll be joining a new gym tomorrow closer to my
house so I can workout after work and on weekends. My lunchtime workouts will end at the end of March. Speaking of that I need to write my cancellation letter to my current gym.

5. I went to yoga again today.
Finally I am beginning to feel solid and strong in the postures, especially triangle. Now I feel like I can really start to rock and roll!

11. An hour of cardio.
Then some weights and squats. I have a lot more feeling back in my left arm now.

It feels great to be able to work out again.

12. 6 miles, pilates routine.
Worked with an incline for the first time, and kept my speed a bit higher for longer than normal (i.e. instead of doing 2 miles at 3.3 mph, I did 5 miles at 3.3 and with a 2% incline).

Felt good.

Diet's on track for not eating a doggammed thing.

13. I swam after work.
It finally feels like I am getting back in training, or beginning to.
