Help.
I need to knock off 30 lbs. I'm looking for a 'sponsor' whom I have to check in with to keep me honest.

Any takers?

1. I'm your huckleberry...
Are you sure you have 30 lbs to lose? And what's your timeframe? How will you do it?

2. THANK YOU!!!
Yes - I'm 5'4"/ 150 lbs (no shoes and sweats on).

I should be 120 - 125.

I don't have a 'time-frame' - just want to begin to lose and keep it off. This necessitates healthy eating and exercising.

I usually sit a lot - either in front of this damned computer or in front of my 'work' computer. When I'm not doing that - I will 'veg' in front of the TV.

I'm trying to change that.

I went walking yesterday morning (almost 3 mi).

I have a gym membership that I (infrequently) use.

I've begun to attend OA meetings with one of my friends to see if we
can become stimulated to finally make some life-style changes.

I need someone who can help me get on track and STAY on track.

Think you can do it?

3. You're welcome!
First, let's go over a few things...

Mmmmkay...I'm going to assume that you're female (your profile says "undeclared" and if you're a 5'4" male, wanting to weigh 125...short of cutting off a leg, you probably won't make it). Also, and my mother would smack me for this, how old are you? Please, feel free to PM me all your answers so that the world doesn't have to see...

More questions:

What is your body type? Ectomorph, endomorph, mesomorph? This may change your expectations.

Your gym membership, why are you an infrequent user? What specifically would it take to help you become a frequent user?

What's OA? Your friend, if he/she is also so committed, will be more important than I will be.

What is your diet like? If you had to keep a diary, could you? This is going to be a key part of your transformation.

Now, can I help you get on track? Sure. You're already on track, and I've done nothing. Can I help you stay on track? Well...

(Here's where I get nasty)

1. I want a PM every day, for the first 2 weeks, with a food diary, what you ate and when (morning, mid-morn, noon, afternoon, evening, late). If you got a Diet Pepsi from the machine at work, I want to know about it. I just want to see what your diet is like. After those 2 weeks, every couple/few days will be fine.
2. In that same PM, I want to see what you did for activity. Walking 3 miles (very good), going to the gym...whatever.
3. I want a commitment from you that you'll stay off that scale. You can weigh yourself once a week, at the same time, on the same day, each week.
4. I'd like you to post in each of the daily workout threads here at DU. Even if you didn't work out, say that you didn't. If you did, post that. When all eyes are on you, your chances of success are much higher, if you're honest with yourself.
5. (And here's the fun one) Establish a reward. I want you to come up with an answer to "What would happen if I lost 30 pounds?" Is it health? Appeal? It doesn't matter how deep, nor how superficial it is. If it's just something that you want to do, then you need to tie other rewards into it. We can discuss that later.

Lastly, you have to promise that when you achieve your goal (and maintain same), when folks ask you how you did it, you'll help them by sharing what you've learned/done. Sort of a..."pay it forward" type of thing.

As an FYI, I AM a certified personal trainer (I actually have 3 certs, but that doesn't really matter), and a certified sports nutritionist. I'm up to the task, however cyber-limited.

So...we got a deal?
