Daily Exercise Thread - 1/24/04
Today I did 55 minutes of cardio on the treadmill. Woo Hoo! :D

Have a great exercise day, everyone! :hi:

Lack of activity destroys the good condition of every human being, while movement and methodical physical exercise save it and preserve it. ~Plato

and surpass me. :D

Ugh! I got a little depressed reading a short article on the local paper today. "Moderate" exercise is classified as "walking at a 3.5 mph pace on the treadmill. Ugh. This is in my target heart zone! Moderate, hell! :-)

2. Lower body day.
Edited on Mon Jan-24-05 02:07 PM by Cobalt Violet
I normally take Monday off but I didn't want to since I was going to do lower body yesterday but had to do snow shoveling instead. I'll take some other day off.

I did leg extension, leg curls, abs crunches, thigh abductor, thigh adductor, standing dumbell calf raises, leg presses.

x12, x10, x8, x6, x 12, x12

I lost 4 pounds since last week.

Just from exercise, or diet too?

4. Both.
My diet wasn't that off but I just cut back on portions and snacking.
I also had to increase the amount of protein I eat due to the sharp increase in weight lifting I've been doing.

Right now I'm trying to keep it around 1200 calories and still get 100% requirement of protein because I have some excess fat to lose. I'm trying to follow the "body for life challenge".

5. Only 1200 calories?
man....that's not a lot....I'm supposed to be around 2200 per day and have been averaging aroun 1900 and I'm ALWAYS starving.

6. It's a lot less for women
men get away with a lot more in the calorie department. I'm only 5 feet tall and my "diet" calorie limit is somewhere around 1100, depending on which kind of calculations you use. Normal eating for me is around 1300. Not a lot of wiggle room there, sadly.

9. 1 hour of Cardio
Every Mon-Wed-Fri I get hooked up on heart monitors and do 1 hour (Treadmill, Cybex, UBE and another cycle machine). It's rehabilitative exercise for 36 weeks. Doctors orders.

10. Today...
WATP Power Series Walk & Jog for interval training (about 30 minutes)

I got interrupted before I had a chance to finish lifting weights, but I did get in:

3 sets/15 reps standing shoulder raises with 10-lb dumbbells
3 sets/15 reps prison curls for biceps with 12-lb dumbbells

If I can get it together before bed, I will do chest, back, and shoulders to complete the workout.
