Is there any interest in a diet/weight loss group?
I thought someone proposed this before but no group has formed. While exercise is an important component of weight loss, I'd sure love to see a group in which I could talk with other "losers" about what's working and what isn't. :)

Please reply if you're interested. I'll post this in Lounge, too.

1. Why not roll it into this forum?
We could change the name including diet and weight loss. I think there is interest here and discussions about diet and weight loss issues.
I'd just prefer not to have another forum for it.

2. I thought about that but I think it was in here that someone proposed this
before and it didn't go anywhere.

Frankly, I love the folks in here and they inspire me in the exercise area but there have been a few topics where the issue came up and the advice was, "Just eat less and exercise more!" That may be good advice but it's just not that simple and only someone who has had to struggle with weight loss knows this.

As with the other groups on DU, it's nice to have a place to discuss certain issues with others who have those issues in common.

I hope I haven't offended anyone in trying to explain my desire for this group. If we do form it, I certainly plan to continue to be a member of this group, just as I belong to both the Bicycling Group and this group, or the TV Chat and Classic Movies groups. :D

6. i would be interested in seeing it combined
it all depends on what others have to say also, especially the more active members of this group.

i don't remember the earlier suggestion of combining it.

but i really think that would be a good idea. there are so many groups and i think this is one area where they go together.

including some other words such as health, nutrition, support etc would probably help bring more people in who want to talk about those things since many right now probably do as you say and just view it as people talking about their workout.

3. I am trying to lose weight
I had gastric bypass last September and have lost a lot of weight since, but I have more to lose and it's really starting to be work now.

I personally like this "group" for this; I like coming here and I like the people here and I think there's a lot we can all share with each other.

4. You've done great and congratulations on your success today!
I like this group, too -- I don't see it as an either/or situation.

I have the required minimum ten members through my post in the Lounge so I'll be sure and announce it in here when Skinner forms the group, in case anyone would like to drop by. :D

5. I'm dieting in addition to exercising and I'm always
interested in what approaches other people are taking in trying to eat healthier.

7. I would be interested.
Even if we are using different approaches to losing weight it would be nice to have the support. I need to knock off about 20 lbs.

8. Skinner has emailed me that he will be setting this group up.
I'll let y'all know when it's a done deal, or you can look for it on the list of groups.

Looking forward to sharing with y'all! :hi:

10. Don't think you are going to get out of visiting here
just because you got another group going! We would miss you too much

Good luck to all of you with the diets. Other than losing after my pregnancies, that is one thing (probably the only) that hasn't been a huge problem for me. But menopause is in my future, so there is still time ;)

11. Thanks!
I'll definitely still be around. I had to give a group the boot to make room but it sure wasn't this one! :D
