Thursday, 4/7: I worked out today--did you? (the I'm a Bad-Ass edition)
:silly:

So, just a couple of days after jogging 1.0 miles without stopping to walk, today, I jogged 1.5 miles without stopping to walk. In fact, my entire track workout was jogging.

Then to the weight room for upper body and abs.

I know I'm not into variation much at this stage, but for me, right now, I feel it's most important to establish the routine. Once this getting to the gym thing has become second nature, then I worry about varying my workouts a bit.

Anyway, today, I'm a bad-ass. I feel stronger than ever.

2. You ARE a badass!
Great work!!!

I am, again, taking today off (that's almost 2 weeks now!) because I have to go with my wife to her prenatal appointment (3 weeks left).

The cat's out of the hospital at least. Tomorrow I should be back at the gym, then I gotta start going gung-ho next week.

But I'm so tired...

4. I did, but...wait a minute, MissMillie
You mean that you're actually listening to your body, letting it dictate what you do, while mentally pushing yourself to do more? AND you think you're a bad-ass? AND you feel stronger than ever? Developing a routine, creating a habit of working out?

Must be something to that...

I propose that should there be another name change amnesty, that MissMillie be hereby dubbed MissMillieTheBadAss...

Chest day for me. Burned the hell outta my left shoulder doing flat bench dumbbell flyes. Too much extension on the way down, I knew the mistake as soon as I did it. No pain now, and it didn't limit the remainder of my workout, but I KNOW I'm gonna feel that tomorrow.

5. wanted to do squat cleans...
...but spent nearly the whole workout doing high pulls with moderate weights and some with just a broomstick. My right shoulder is lagging a little on the Olympic lifts and I'm trying to fix it.

7. Excellent!
just one suggestion, get VERY good running shoes and insoles, and please, don't overdo the running, esp. since you've just started. As long as you feel good, keep at it!

My workout later--step choreography. 45 mins of dance steps on the aerobic step.

9. Hi I'm Back!
After my race Saturday, I was surprised that I actually felt "ready" to work out again by Monday night. But... between the houseguest I had all week and my ex-bf not taking me to the gym in the mornings any more, I didn't get to work out at all Sunday through Wednesday. :( Funny how after only 2 months of this exercising-more-days-than-not business taking a few days off feels so wrong!

So, FINALLY: kickboxed last night. Felt great! I think the mental endurance of triathlon carried over: I pushed myself harder, did better than ususal. The teacher even said, "hey!" at one point when i nailed a 25-kick drill with greater speed and consistency than ever before, then switched over to the left leg without lagging or complaining... :) I am woman, hear me roar!

And you too, Miss Millie! ROAR!
