Wow! Ho-lee cow! The Sibley Field Guide is terrific!
I first heard David Allen Sibley's name mentioned in a thread here in the Birder's Group. Kind of on impulse, I went to Barnes & Noble online and ordered a copy of the Eastern North America version.

I love it! There are some really great features, particularly for a newbie like me. I especially like the drawings of how birds will appear in flight, from both above and below. The drawings comparing juvenile and adult are very helpful, too.

I don't recall who mentioned Sibley, but THANK YOU, whoever you are! :hi:

1. I tend to be a big Sibley booster, but I won't claim credit
Here's a tip for you, too: get those little 3m "bookmark" strip thingys, you know, they come in different colors and are like little narrow post-it notes, and use them to mark the different sections in the book for each major group of birds - i have raptors, gulls, ducks, shorebirds, warblers and sparrows marked. Really makes it handy for quick reference in the field.

Check out Sibley's other books, too. They give a LOT of good advice.

2. I've browsed them at the bookstore and I like them, too.
It will be my next field guide. Maybe next paycheck.

3. It could have been "me"
I took a college class that used Sibley's Field Guide as our text so I recommend it every chance I get.

4. Well then I'm in your debt. Sibley's is fantastic.
I think I've become a disciple, too! :hi:

5. " A Season at the Point"
is a great book to read about Hawk Watching at Cape May, New Jersey.

Once you've been bitten by the bird-watching bug ~ the world is a much more beautiful place...B-)
