Where did all the birds go?
Have been back to a few places recently where there were hundreds of birds, oh, 10 years ago.

Now there are but a handful. Is this a sign of the ecological collapse?
The real life canary in the coal mine scenario?

2. Never been a frog watcher
Are they going away, too? Heard they were.

Birds, I can count a hundred diff on the wing, and used to see 10 -20 diffs a day, but now? Just vultures and a few large whities.

What is Audobon's take? Is there even gonna be an Xmas count this year?

3. Dunno; I'm not a watcher.
Ask the others at Birders Group.

4. Not sure where you are but there's plenty of birds around here
I'm in Ohio, and we've had a nice overflight of Sandhill Cranes - Saw about 120 myself on Saturday. Waterfowl I think has overflown us - a warm November combined with the December cold snap I think has made all the ducks skip over us. Ohio just had its first record for Allen's Hummingbird too, and there's a ton of CBCs going on this weekend.

Check your state Audubon webpage to find a count near you.

(BTW -what type of bird are you referring to as "Whities" - Gulls?)
