Is this a killdeer?

This bird menaced me the other day when I was walking by - it clearly had broad white and black stripes on the chest and some orange/yellow feathers under its wing. It's a mother sitting on a nest of at least 2 eggs. A very large red-shouldered hawk lives nearby, I wonder if the killdeer (which I think it is) will make it...

I will try to get a pic with a zoom lens tomorrow.

2. neat behaviour in kildeers
if the mother thinks the eggs are in danger, she will hop around with one wing out pretending to be injured, to lure any predator away from her eggs.

3. This one got mad when I walked by the nest
She puffed up her feathers and starting chirping loudly, so I backed off and left her alone. I'm taking a peek every day or so to see when the chicks hatch.

4. She may start doing the wounded dance for you
like this to lure you away from the nest.
