Prayers requested for ordination...
As some of you may know, I'm "dual-affiliated" (or, as some have sarcastically put it, "bi-denominational"). In addition to my long-time membership in the Episcopal Church, over the past nine years, I have been a member of the Apostolic Catholic Church in America, a small, "Independent Catholic" (i.e. not connected to Rome) denomination of "house churches," based primarily in the Northwest, with an affirming and inclusive approach coupled to Orthodox and Catholic liturgy and spirituality.

In 1999, I was ordained Deacon, and have been serving parishes in Tacoma and Seattle in the years since then.

I am to be ordained to the priesthood tomorrow morning at the Pentecost liturgy in Seattle.

I ask your prayers for this new step in my ministry.

3. Congrats and all the best!
I will always remember my ordination day with this odd mix of pride and humility. I especially remember the sense of the presence of the Spirit at the laying on of hands! I thought about that today, as I celebrated the rite of confirmation.

You're entering into a wonderful, terrible, amazing journey. May God go with you!!

5. Thank you all!
It was moving and more than a little overwhelming. I've been hearing the words of the Eucharistic Prayer all my life, but actually reciting them over the elements myself was a strange experience.

A photo of the ordination can be found here. (Warning, the rest of the website is very much "under construction" and not quite ready for prime time...hopefully, in a few weeks...)

By the way, I'd also like to ask prayers for healing for Fr. Bob Withrow, my superior at St. Aelred's in Tacoma, who goes in for knee-replacement surgery tomorrow.
