Kitchen sink
Problem: Weak stream from the faucet. Sprayer works just fine with enough pressure.

I want to remove the part with the screen to check for calcium deposits but I can't get it to budge. Used masking tape both on the metal and on the wrench.

I'm seeking advice on how to get the f***er off. I'd settle for how to get it to move 1/4 inch.

1. The stem valve is shot
First, make sure they sell the innards for that particular faucet.

I got mine apart 3 years ago only to discover that they didn't. I bought the Moen I should have bought in the first place.

If they don't have the parts, then you're going to have to replace the whole faucet, all for a $5.00 piece of plastic inside it. If they don't sell the part, save yourself the aggravation of breaking the damned thing down.

FWIW, the faucet I replaced was a store brand and a bitch and a half to tear down.

3. New observation
I think I have to replace the entire unit. It's frozen with dried deposits, possibly lime. Can't move the spout.

4. Check the guarantee if you still have it. Maybe you'll have to replace it.
I had a Peerless faucet corrode and the chrome peeled. Lifetime guarantee. Yea!!
I went to HD to tell them about it. Had original receipt. Turns out, I could get a new faucet free but I had to send the old one back to Peerless and they would send a replacement. How blatant is that. Who can spend months without a kitchen faucet for the sake of a couple of hundred dollars. I had threatened to send the faucet back to them anyway but felt my time was worth more.

It is obviously a way of getting around their guarantee of lifetime replacement.

Good luck with your project.

5. That's why I got the Moen
They'll take those back, period, if they fail and it's not a replaceable part.

This was a store brand supposedly still guaranteed but I couldn't see replacing it and getting the same problem in another three years so I bit the bullet and paid for what I should have gotten in the first place.

It's still working beautifully and when it stops, I can get new guts.
