you may remember when I last left you, we were redoing the Living Room so here's some pics of it now it's done (the interim thread is here http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=287&topic_id=7315&mesg_id=7315 )

here's the new chair fabric and the old 70s ebay hanging lamp and curtains done

and the new craftsman style TV stand and one of our last pics of the old girl, we sent her across Rainbow Bridge 7/5 this year

and then off to the bedroom which is still a work in progress

finally at 54 years old and after 15+ years of marriage, our furniture all matches in the there :wow:

we chose a dark color since we work late and/or swing shifts so we wanted to be able to get the bedroom DARK but it's rich and I love it

just got in the art for over the bed which you can see here, we're going to use three across the bed and the other one somewhere????

I still need a rug and then off to finish off the master bath

what have you guys been doing this summer???

1. Nifty!
I'd love to do some of that stuff, but my landlady would stroke out if I did anything to her precious white walls. Borrrrring!

Hey, where in NM are you? I lived in Albuquerque for a number of years, went to high school there.

5. Ah, a Batperson!
I knew about Hobbs from trying to live there in the early '70s. Wimped out after a couple of months, went back to ABQ. Last time I was in Carlsbad we'd driven down for the Easter sunrise service at the caverns -- only to discover that they'd moved it to the football field at the high school. Not exactly the same ambience, y'know?

7. Beautiful! You were much more productive than I this summer around the house.
It must be such a good feeling to have your house pulled together in a way that
really reflects your tastes and feels good to come home to.
I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your ol' girl. You must miss her so much.

8. re: the old girl
she was very old, I was amazed she lasted as long as she did. and the other two are keeping me busy lol

the house is nice to come home to, it's been fun doing it now that I convinced hubby that color on the walls wasn't a 'scary' thing LOL

9. I absolutely love your bedroom...I call that 'French Country' that is not dark, but not oak..
it is a wonderful color for your bedroom furniture. I am older than you and still my bedroom consists of a chest of drawers in a blond (50's?)color? My headboard is queen, my bed is double, my 'night stand' is a living room end table..much too large for a bed room....and NOTHING MATCHES! I love French Country!

10. the furniture manf called it "cottage chic" and that's probably close
our old bedroom had a white/gold 'French Provincial' dresser, a cheap KMart pressboard dresser in 'fauxwood' and a zebra wood dresser and no headboard at all so I can relate!!! :pals:

I like it, but it was a bit bigger than I'd planned

and it's so easy to sleep in the daytime
