My major projects coming up

A friend and I are going to be doing craft fairs this summer, and I have some new hobby/craft/creative project things to get to work on. Last summer, I spent a ton of money on gift basket materials and bath and beauty supplies to make soap, aromatherapy stuff, bath salts, etc. I never sat down long enough to get it going, but that hasn't deterred me from trying yet something new this year!

Since it's difficult for me to stand for any length of time, I came up with a project that will allow me to sit through most of it. I'm not sure what I'm going to call it, except for that all-inclusive term, wearable art. Right now, though, I'm concentrating on tote bags and aprons, and will eventually add tee-shirts later, and whatever else that works out well.

If you think about those collage artists who work with everything from used beer cans to pieces of bark for their work, I guess you can grab a little idea of what I'll be doing. Working with embroidery thread, fabric paint, both the 3D and the flat stuff, yarn, pom-poms, buttons, stencils, ribbon and other such stuff, I'll be concentrating on making each bag unique and fun. Some will be simple--butterflies with flowers, or cats with whiskers, or other similar themes, I'll be mainly aiming for the younger set. I don't want to charge more than $10 per bag, so that they can be affordable.

Anyone ever try something like this? I figure if I get this, and my tee-shirt project up and running, it will give me the incentive to work on the soap and bath and beauty products again. I had some unique ideas in that area, and I want to get to work on some of them.

1. Dunno what things are like where you are

but stuff like that sells like crazy around here. We do have a great influx of tourists, though, and they love to take wearable art back home with them.

My own projects have been curtailed by poor vision and post surgical restrictions on bending and lifting. I did manage to weave a 3x5 rag rug last week, colors to match my summer quilt.
