3. "genius" is a powerful word
Burton is a masterful gothic designer, but a rather poor storyteller. Trying to recapture the success of "A Nightmare before Christmas" isn't genius, it's commerce. "Big Fish" came close to brilliance.

I missed your follow up post. However, Henry Selick is the talent behind The Nightmare Before Christmas, not Burton.
