6. This is off topic, ET
but I see in your profile that your hobby is snowboarding. Have you heard of the extreme snowboarding competitions that take place up here near Valdez?

You ought to try it sometime -- me, I'm too old and too chicken.

7. That just a little too hairy for me :)
I'm more of a mellow, cruising and carving style rider than a "let's see how many limbs I can break, or failing that, how many teeth I can loosen" type rider :).

8. I wanteds to do something different,
but finally posted a "colored leaves" picture.

If this had been a better photo, I would have used this one.

I took it from some distance (wide angle)in low light, and lost too much detail in the cropping. (I love the expression on the dog's face, and Fall means WORK for urban residents.)

The enties so far are outstanding!!!
I love the IR "Spirit Tree".

16. Thanks.
Not my home, but my home city Minneapolis/St Paul.

I like the picture too, but the cropping and slow shutter really hurt the clarity. It was cropped from this "hip shot" while I was looking for "pretty trees" in one of our city parks.

I didn't know this guy and his dog, but later asked if I could take their pictures. I was using a tripod, but shooting with available light and long exposures on a dark day (looking for something different like a neat light glowing through fall foliage).

I love the pumpkin glow that a 1 sec exposure produced, but people and dogs can't hold still for a crisp picture at that speed.
This was shot from much closer.
I also have 2 new friends.

Could somebody make Kitchen Witch's photo of the lone gull a little bigger? I'm afraid it will get kind of lost in among all the larger pix.

I'd be glad to mail you as many copies as you would like - I've still got stacks of old ditto copies from the day before Christmas when I had to have some math related exercise available for 100% of my munchkins to do, but couldn't realistically expect more than 1/3 of them to show up for math class. They make nice tree ornaments, photo display devices, dice, etc.

37. Yea, making decisions can be tough
This "opposite direction" thing? I completely understand where you're coming from. I actually kinda' like it. Appreciate you exposing me to this new form of "artistic" expression. It's interesting on so many levels.

It removes the outer shell that most people see and allows one to see inside the "art"... to see it for what it really is.

This place is great. I learn something new here everyday.

Thanks again. I feel.... enlightened.

I've been going over the entries, playing my usual game of "guess which ones will make the finals." The problem is that, this time, I can already count eleven that should make the final ten  , with possibly five more entries still to come.

This is going to be a tough one!

Big help!

No, really, thanks to everyone for pointing out my mistake- I need to learn more about all of this- I TAKE thousands of shots- dealing with the finished product is the hard work.
Odd that every other time I have used photobucket I have been disappointed in the small results. Someday, I'll get it right. Obviously, the other times I must have cropped the originals before uploading to photobucket. I think, maybe, perhaps...
Can you tell that photography is an art- NOT a science- to me?

I'll keep hanging around here and trying to gain some more smarts. The photos are ALL gorgeous!

I have to agree that a cute dog is cheatin.! But, this was my best shot in weeks- it deserved to be submitted. This dog is RARELY more than a blur of fur and how she loves a leaf pile:

my favourite. The darkness of the fog and the sense of cold you get by looking at the tree make me remember those falls of years past... when the weather didn't act all crazy. You'd have rain and fog, progressing slowly into coldness and snow...

50. It really sucks that only 10 can be in the finals
Lookin' em over. IMO the number of photos that should be in the final 10 goes waaaaaay between that limitation.:(

And I honestly can't pick just one that is a favorite. I have several, none of which will probably "win" because I don't "judge" a photo based on technical purity - excellent composition.... I'm attracted by the story I see or those that stimulate my imagination.

It just really sucks that only 10 can be in the final Lounge Liz Votathon. But it is what it is.

playing in the leaves that my dad took when I was about four that would sure be a strong contender. I know I couldn't enter it in a contest, but maybe someday I'll take those old photos of me and my brothers that I have hanging on my wall, have them scanned and post them here. They're really priceless. My dad was a great photographer. When I was little we lived on a farm, without even any indoor plumbing -- but we sure had a darkroom. LOL.

Not only to post here but to put and cd and save. And then make Cd's for the brothers to save. I would love to see them though so you would have to do some screen size. No wonder you have a good eye for photography.
